If I'm jailbroken, is it safe for me to update to the new iTunes 9? In the past, some users have run into issues with iTunes and their jailbroken device(s) when they updated to iTunes 8.2, so I just want to be sure that it won't be a problem before I update.

Also, I'm not updating to iPhone 3.1 until there's a jailbreak.

Edit: Related to the jailbreak and 3.1... when I opened Cydia a day or two ago, it asked me if I wanted Cydia to make things easier for me if I want to jailbreak again, so I said yes. Now, when I open Cydia, it says "This iPhone 3G has an ECID SHSH on file." at the top. What does this mean for me?

Edit 2: Nevermind the edit 1, I found another thread.. :p

Edit 3: If you upgrade to iTunes 9, you will still be able to sync your jailbroken phone. Everything still seems to be working correctly.

How can anyone possibly know?

I just logged on, so I don't know how long iTunes 9 has been available for, but I'd assume if someone who's jailbroken has already installed it and has had problems (or no problems), they'd know.

No problems with it recognizing and syncing my jailbroken 3G. I did NOT re-jailbreak though so I can not say if it will cause any problems on this end.

This is on OSX 10.5.8 and option + restore still opens the finder window to choose what firmware you wish.

So you installed iTunes 9 and then synced your iphone and then upgraded to 3.1?

I think people here would like to know if they can carry on using their JB's iphones with Itunes 9.

No I did not upgrade to 3.1 as I still with to keep my jailbreak. All I am saying is itunes 9 is recognizing and syncing my jailbroken 3.0.1 just fine. I am sure many want to upgrade iTunes and keep the jailbreak until the dev team releases their solution for 3.1 The new firmware does not seem to be much of a difference but then again I could be wrong that is if I am ever wrong... :)

Did you have a look at the app arrangement window in iTunes yet? Is it even present before you upgrade to 3.1?

Do JB'd apps show up there? As blanks? Or does something else happen?

Are you able to click on Shift+Program Icon to be able to choose or create Itunes library?
