Hi everyone. I have a question due to privacy concerns.

When sharing a file with iTunes to an iPad, does it simply create a copy of the file on the iPad or is another file created and kept within iTunes?

Thanks in advance.

depends on the type of file you are attempting to add to your iPad.

Music/Movies/Apps/eBooks(epub,pdf) are kept within iTunes itself. photos are not stored within iTunes.

if you are really concerned about the file security I would recommend using an app such as Goodreader which allows you to add files to the app through either wifi or drag and drop the files into the app via iTunes. the files are not stored within iTunes, you just use iTunes to access the Goodreader app.

I use Dropbox quite frequently and have no issues with their security. Yes Dropbox itself has access to my files but they have admitted that they only have this capability in case they need to restore the files in case something happens to a users Dropbox.
