Sales tax in california

So I just pre-ordered the 4 and the sales tax estimate was almost $50.00, does that sound right for something that costs $200 and buying in California. I figured sales tax would be around $20.thoughts?

Read before you hit submit. Certain states tax the full unsubsidized price of the phone. One of those states is CA.

I'd paid $360.16 for a 32GB and $251.41 for a 16GB.

I have both my orders shipping to cali and the $199 iphone was charged ~$50 in taxes and the early upgrade order for $400 was taxed only $37... no clue why

Yeah tax in CA is insane. I paid 371.54 for a 32 GB (that was with a pack of 9 dollar dock adapters though). I was just happy to get to the checkout on apple.com that I didn't really care about what it cost at that point lol.
