so my Mac Pro at work is giving me problems. I have it bound to our windows AD domain. The problem is that after a little while of being on, the machine promotes itself to being domain master browser. I've read a whole bunch of stuff on how to stop it from happening and have edited my samba.conf accordingly, however the problem persists. Also there are a few winbindd processes and other related processes that are eating my CPU. What can I do to stop this?

Not sure how you become the domain master browser on OS X client. Are you running SMB sharing via File SHaring prefpane?

mDNS is multicast DNS, i.e., bonjour.
syslogd is the daemon listening for local syslog connections.

Yes I had samba turned on, but I changed the smb.conf to not make me a domain master browser but it still does it. I feel like this is somehow related to these runaway winbindd processes considering my computer is bound to a AD domain.
