So many years super old stone age design anyway
It caters to the needs of some, for a plethora of reasons.
1. Bezels makes it easier to hold the phone without accidentally pressing somewhere on the screen.
2. Touch iD is so intuitive, you can actually unlock your phone while removing it from the pocket, way before even looking at it.
3. Some people cannot stand the notch.
4. It is the cheapest entry point to a new iPhone.
5. The interface is also more intuitive compared to iPhone that have Face iD, especially true when you consider build up muscle memory from long term iPhone usage. It took me almost a month to get use to the new interphase on my first Face iD iPhone, which was the XR.
6. Some people prefer 16:9 aspect ratio, because it’s the best “fit” for the content they work with or consume, any extra space is thus wasted.
7. LCD screen are amazingly more comfortable compared to some implementation of OLED, especially true for people who suffer from PWM.
8. 326 PPI, allows for suitability lower resolution screen while maintaining necessary sharpness for reading and viewing.
9.1. Lower resolution screen, results in less power consumption and less heat generated in CPU/GPU intensive applications where content is directly rendered on said screen.
9.2. Lower resolution screen, require less data to stream content. A substantial drop in quality is more noticeable when streaming say a video clip @ 480p on the iPhone 13 Pro Max, compared to the iPhone SE3. This means a more acceptable viewing experience on the iPhone SE3 in areas where getting high speed data is an issue for whatever reasons.
10. It’s a A15 beast of a phone dress in a retro body, how cool is that!
Apple is unlikely to design a brand new look for a baseline “catch all that falls through the cracks” iPhone when there are already prevailing designs and manufacturing processes that have already been fine tuned to max.
