I would love to see a candid camera placed in a Starbucks or some other gathering place just to see how differently people would react to someone working away with a new PowerBook vs, someone doing the same thing with a new Wintel laptop.

To make this more interesting, I'd like to see what would happen if you placed an iMac G5 in one corner of a Starbucks and another similar
Wintel AOI at the other end of the room with both machines open for public use.

To even the slate you could have one man and one women working in each platform so any reactions would not be merely gender based.

My guess is that the Apple products would grab the most attention regardless
of the users gender.

Wow ... someone should do this. I would if I wasn't poor. ._.;

I've owned both an iBook and a Powerbook, and from experience, I recommend the iBook for what you'll be using it for.

I had an iBook but like many others, I became "power hungry" and sold it to buy a Powerbook. Biggest mistake I ever made. The iBook feels much more sturdy and solid, where as the Powerbook feels flimsy and is more apt to take damage if dropped. Furthermore, it gets so hot after a while that you'll need a lapdesk to put it on. Otherwise, it actually can burn you. Airport reception is also worse on the PB, and the battery in the iBook lasts about an hour longer.

Not to say the Powerbook is a flawed machine. I used to love the one I had. It just wasn't right for me. The iBook made much more sense, power-wise and economically, for me, as I'm sure it will for you.

Besides, I think both laptops are equally sexy. You'll draw attention no matter which one you pick.

attentions not a problem for me, i walk around with jacksons hangin out of my pockets :)

And one obviously written by a woman.

It wasn't meant as that, the original line was a spin on a quote from Family Guy, what I said is what one of the characters said next. Sorry for the confusion.
