OWC's ram is actually very good quality. I would get the cheaper. I have read on a few forums of people getting 4GB for roughly $150.00. I paid $260 for 4GB for my new iMac back in August and OWC was asking a lot higher. Ram has come down dramatically.

Interesting phrase in OWC's product description: "Upgrade kit with Micron devices"

Crucial Technology is Micron Technology's consumer-direct sales division.

    http://www.crucial.com/company/index.aspx

The Difference™ : OWC sells Micron memory; Crucial is Micron memory.

    ...viva la differance!!

$5 difference between Crucial and OWC

For my 5 bucks I'd go with OWC and if you have RAM left over you can trade it in and get money back...so in the end OWC RAM is CHEAPER!

I just ordered 2 of these to upgrade my 24" 2.4 aluminum iMac from 1 GB to 4GB. Total cost shipped was $119.98, WOW for 4GB of RAM. I am going to take the 1GB chip that is in it out and put it in my other 17" white iMac that has 512MB RAM, that will give it 1.5GB RAM. Not bad 2 iMacs upgraded for less than $120. They arrive tomorrow, can't wait!

How do you intend to ship OWC your ram? - deduct shipping cost from the 8 dollars they give you!!

But is there a difference in speed because its "Crucial" or something like that or are they basically the same thing...just different sellers?

Crucial = brand name, not the importance of that RAM.

There's no difference in speed -- the specs guarantee that -- but there
could be differences in quality. Even if they're the exact same Micron
memory chips, the SODIMM circuit board and other components are
probably different -- and they were probably assembled by different
    factories.

However, that 'information' is useless. If there is a quality difference,
you have absolutely no way of predicting which one would be "better."

Just go with a vendor you can trust; if there's a problem, they'll fix it.
In the case of OWC vs. Crucial vs. Newegg, you have little/no cause
for concern; they're all reliable and will stand behind their products.

Lol if you feel your coming out ahead, that is all that matters...

But if we want to look at it realistically, you are getting paid pennies for your Apple factory ram which you still have to pay for shipping to get it up there. Also now that you have sold you old ram for a measly few bucks, you are now screwed when it comes time for warranty work...

    I can see it now...

    User:
I have a problem with my computer
Apple: Do you have aftermarket memory
    User: Yes, I do
Apple: Please remove that memory and re-insert the Apple memory
User: Well, uh... You see... I sold that memory for $8...
Apple: It is likely your aftermarket memory is causing the problem, but don't worry... We can sell you more Apple memory for the low low price of $(inser rip-off price here)

Despite what other users may tell you, there is no such thing as "PC" ram..

    RAM is RAM...

Same with the intel CPU's... Hard drives.. etc.

Does anyone know if OWC ships to Canada? I can't seem to find any information about it on their site.

    EDIT:

Never mind. I found out that they do.
