With so many different retailers selling the iPhone 4S on launch, I am really not too worried about walking into a store and being able to find one on the 14th.

Sure, there will be lots of people waiting in line...but i really think Apple will have plenty of stock for this one. They have already been cranking out most of the parts for quite some time now anyway since there is no redesign.

Couldn't you just pay $199 for the phone and then terminate early for $350 = 16GB for $549!

You know I always thought poorly of the early termination fee's but it turns out you could save another Cnote :)
$299 + 350 = 32GB for $649

Only getting 16 gb

I called to reserve a iphone 4s from my local Sam's Club here in Atlanta and the woman who answered said that each store was only getting 10 units and that they would all be 16 gb. She said that the email she read the information from came from corporate to all stores. So much for this being a good thing unless you want a 16 gb version.

I just called... I was planning on taking my chances with going to a Sprint store, but this seemed like the better idea. Gave them my name & phone number. He said that he would call me? Idk.

Either way, I'm getting there at 10am on Friday. Hopefully I'll be walking out with my iPhone

They open the cell phone counter at 8 that day according to the person I spoke with, they will also have ONLY the 16 gb model.

Yeah, but I have class until 9am, so that's the earliest I can get there.

And I was planning on getting the 16gb version anyway :D

I'm clearly going off of pure optimism, but I think if I arrive there at 10am I shouldn't have any problem getting one, especially considering that I "reserved" one. With record pre-orders from Apple, Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T, I don't think there will be *that* many people at Sam's Club of all places. Especially when places like Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and Radio Shack were also taking pre-orders.

Just called to order mine seeing as Verizon can not guarantee me that I will get my phone on Friday.

Anybody know just how troublesome it will be to cancel my order which i originally made with verizon? Also when i spoke to the guy at my local store, he informed me that they are assured the 16gb in black and white but they don't know if they would be getting the 32gb or 64gb.

Also be aware that if you order at Sams Club, they will begin calling people at 8am, but if you don't pick up your phone before 5pm anybody is allowed to purchase it.

Sprint Rant!

I wish I had a membership with SC, probably no lines and all.

As much as I am looking forward to moving back to Sprint, I just don't get them. Of all three carriers, they are the only ones no longer selling the 16 GB as a preorder, AT&T and Verizon handled it by allowing you to preorder but saying it will ship late, but not Sprint; they don't allow you to preorder anymore.

I did an online chat with an agent asking if they will have any stock on launch day, she said that she cannot comment and to get it in store.

It just does not make sense. Why would Sprint not allow people to preorder from the web, given that it is the CHEAPEST channel for them? I don't know if you know this but when you call, the agent on the phone gets a comission, when you walk to a sprint store, the agent in the store gets a comission. Web is free, how come they are not doing everything they could to sell through it?

Minor thing, I know, but Ugh Sprint, one bad decision after the other.

Just called Verizon to cancel my order and i will be picking up my 4S at Sams Club and saving myself $30 seeing as Sams Club only charges you tax on what you pay for the phone being $200 and not the actual cost of the phone, like Apple and buying it directly from Verizon and ATT.

Went Today

I saw this topic on Mac Rumors and drove to the Sam's Club near me about two hours ago. Went inside the store and up to the cell phone area, they pulled out a list with one other name on it. I wrote my name on the list and they said I was good to come in any time on Friday before 5 PM and pick up my phone. I also didn't have a membership when I went in (and it doesn't matter, as long as you do when you pick up the phone because that is when you pay), while I was there I got a membership for $40 and then walked around the store and bought a few things at a great discount.

They only have the 16GB available though. So on Friday i'll stop by the AT&T store next door, if they have any 64GB I'll buy one then, if not, next stop Sam's.

I went to my Sam's (30 miles) and they wanted to just take down my name and phone number. They said they were only getting in the 16GB models and they didn't know what colors or even how many. Said it would be lucky to have more than 10. It was a wasted drive.

Just recived a confirmation phone call my iphone 4s will be waiting for me in radio shack tomorrow.:) Can't wait. I pre order yesterday, but manager informe me they would still take pre orders today for 16, 32 and 64 models. You also had the option of picking up all the way thru Sunday.

So I just got a call from a person from Sam's Club (an 800 number) telling me that the shipment of iPhones from Apple had not arrived and they could not fulfill my reservation tomorrow.

They said they'd give me a call when they got the iPhones in and would also give me a $25 gift card for the inconvenience.

Anyone else get a similar call?!

Yes I just got the same call. Friggin ********. Hopefully it wont take long for them to get in stock. What store you order from? Mines in Mt Pleasant MI.

Bartlett (Memphis), TN.

I'm guessing Apple diverted shipments. I went to Best Buy a few hours ago and they said they got 20 in, but had 40 pre-orders.

I spoke to a rep while I was in store and I was told they could not do any partial eligibility transactions ($199[16gb] + $250), they could only do processes if you're qualified for the fully subsidized pricing...?!?!

Does anyone know if this is true or not? Was anyone able to get the partial upgrade discount?

I know I could go to other places to get it, but I’d like to use my Sam’s Club credit to purchase.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
