I recently purchased a SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD to use as an external drive for photos while I'm traveling. However, it disconnects from my M1 Macbook after a minute or two every time I connect it. It's driving me crazy. I've tried connecting it directly to the Macbook and also using a hub. I've changed the cord to see if that was the problem. Nothing has worked. I have some photos that I transferred to the drive and now I can't access them.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks.

I'd love to but but I'm already traveling and would like to try to see if there is any way to solve the problem.
ofcourse, are you good with soldering work? i suspect a loose capacitor between the actual ssd drive and the usb plug in.
