Jumped on this when I saw the email this AM. Heck of a deal if you need SSDs right now -- if not, no need to hoard as prices are constantly going south. I won't be shocked to see this very SSD priced at $189 regular price, not sale price, before too long.

Also -- you can save a few bucks more by going through a "cash back" site like Fatwallet, etc. I went through Fatwallet and am getting back an additional $5 per SSD.

30 Day return at Amazon. Even though you will eat some shipping charges, you'll be way ahead by returning to Amazon and taking the Newegg deal.

Then you have to work through a few hours of reformatting and data transfer... Worth it? That's all up to you and how valuable your time is. You could call Amazon and tell them why you want to return and see if they'll give you some money back, but I don't know what the chances of that are...

I really wish the 512gb ssd's would come down in price. I'm already at 180gb used and i don't want to limit myself to 256gb.

Thanks for the heads up! I've been waiting for this, and I ordered one as soon as I saw this post.

Crucial M4 512Gb is going down these days. It's actually only slightly more expensive per Gb (0.78$/Gb) than this P830 sale offer (0.74$/Gb). And yesterday M4 was on sale too! (0.68$/Gb).

It's not like it's physical work or he has to baby sit the computer. Push the reformat button before you go to bed and wake up w/ a fresh drive.

Which would you recommend for a price conscious student. This 256 or the 512 m4. I sorta want 512gb but I don't want an ssd to break 2 months in

Wow thanks for posting, I must have missed it in the spam of all the newegg deals I get. I'll pop this baby in my existing dell xps 1530 for the wife to have once my rMBP arrives :)

Damn. Just bought a 240 gig drive from Owc for around $250 for my late 2008 MacBook pro. 15% restocking fee fOr owc as well. Hmmm, would Save me around 30 bucks at most with restocking fee and shipping. But has an extra 16 gigs. First world problems.

Hey, you can return 30 days without restocking fee to OWC. The available size on the samsung is also around 240gb.

You sure? I just looked at their return policy on their website and it says their ssd's are subject to 15% restocking fee. If the size is pretty much the same that makes me feel a little better. I like the fact that owc has 3 year warranty.

I realize that per GB they are very similar. However, I'm waiting till the 512gb is the price of 256gb in a year or so.

Is the SKU that includes the notebook upgrade kit also on sale, or is it just the one that only includes the drive?

It doesn't have the desktop or notebook kit. From what I've heard at least for the MBP you can just plop it in no kit needed. Not sure about that though...

Thank you and curse you. That is too good to miss. Now I have to buy a new uMBP to go with it. :)
