Alexa is not a speaker like Apple's. That is a device to order from Amazon and only has a crappy speaker because it's necessary.
The Echo's speaker is fine for most of us. The Echo Show's is even better.
It's really incorrect to claim that Alexa is just for ordering from Amazon. In fact, that's the least of her capabilities, although a cool one. (The sheer fact that you can speak into the air and order almost anything, often delivered the same day or the next, is astonishing. Try that with a HomePod.)
With over 15,000 available addon "skills", Alexa is able to do everything from home control to horoscopes.
Apple's is a highend smart speaker that can do a few other things. Completely different purpose.
So you're saying that the HomePod is not meant to compete with Amazon's devices in any way? That HomePod buyers will only want it as a "speaker that can do a few other things", and so will still get an Amazon device for intelligent assistance?
Or don't you think that the HomePod is intended to steal Echo sales over to the Apple side.
