I must be a statistical anomaly. I like a bigger screen, but have no real use for the advanced camera stuff. Shouldn't be surprised as my previous two were mini-sized which also seem to have not sold as well as the other models.

Retiring the plus is just one step away from reintroducing the mini...

Guessing the market is the same for Apple as it is for Samsung and every other phone manufacturer. People want the same things, if Samsung does something good people want it on iPhones, and vice versa.

Does Samsung come up with any original ideas? Don’t answer that. I’m no Apple sheep but come on. Oh, right. Foldables.
They could have dropped the “may”. It’s well known inside Samsung that any ideas that start with “Apple does (or is going to do) it” gets the green light immediately. They ARE still the largest Android phone company selling the most phones, so can’t really argue with their results! :)

Tip for tech news journalists: when you write about Samsung, use a text shortcut like jla for “just like Apple”. It will save you a lot of time.

And we care about what Samsung does because...Samsung/Android fans dominate the forums here?

The Mini/Plus don't work, because the people that would want these other sizes also want all the features of the top of the line model.
And the added weight that comes with them. I’m going to stick with my 16 Plus for as long as I can.

And yet people try to say the mini wasn’t wanted. People want bigger devices. When in reality it was how it fit in the lineup.
Apple is replacing the Plus model with a similarly sized large phone. The problem with the Plus, is that it gets lost in the shuffle. It has nothing to do with people wanting a small phone.

Yes they do. They followed Apple with the Fold 7 and Flip 7. I don't know why they do this. /s
So Samsung produced a bad product because a few technology "journalists" believe that there should be foldable phones. What Samsung has done is simply nothing really impressive and not innovative in the slightest.

I don’t get all the comments about who copied who.
Who cares.
Both companies will copy each other. Obviously. No bad thing. I WISH Apple would make a flip phone or a phone with as good a zoom as the S25 ultra or with as good an anti reflective coating.
Apple is behind in a lot of areas at the moment and even their edge came to market before the Air. It’s a decent phone too , but the buying public isn’t convinced.
Wonder if the Air will fare any better if the battery life is also lacking (and the edge has a better camera than the rumoured air).

It does. People will buy the new thin large phone mostly because it’s new… and thin.

If it was the size of an iPhone X it would also sell just as well.

So now you move the goalpost by saying it's a bad product. Whether you think it's junk or not, it is not a copy of anything Apple has.

Apple is one of the few companies who can drag their heals and still make a top selling product. If they were any other company, they'd be out of business because they're last to the table with a competing product.

However, when you think about it, it makes sense. They let the other companies do the R&D and market testing first. Then Apple takes their time developing, puts their own spin on it, and makes a better version of whatever is already there charging a premium because it's Apple.

Maybe it's not "being behind" rather, market strategy. I'd personally rather take my time and make an excellent product compared to rushing out a hurried piece of crap. Doing that damages your reputation.
