Perplexity is good but Gemini/Google is the best AI search platform out there.

Of course Google is the largest search engine in the world so it seems obvious to say that but their Gemini 3 model is state of the art. Their 2.5 Pro was already holding up well against ChatGPT 5 despite being older. Gemini 3 destroys everything else out there right now.

Apple has made the right choice going with Google. I actually wanted them to buy Perplexity and for years I avoided Google products but when it comes to AI then Google is the way to go.

The world of AI is changing rapidly but Google is likely to remain at the top. I really can’t see how OpenAI/Anthropic can beat them. Google just became the 3rd most valuable company in the world behind Nvidia and Apple. They’ve been lagging behind for a while but their Gemini 3 model has now let them overtake Microsoft.

The only reason I haven’t deleted my Perplexity account is that I get a free Pro subscription. I’ve moved fully over to Google and I can’t wait for Apple to power Siri with Gemini.

I wish we did not have to make a choice between two evils but could just turn this stuff really OFF, like delete from the device. That would be the only way to be sure it was, in fact, OFF.

I have never really trusted the digital slider switches on any devices to actually turn OFF the collection of my data or activity. Because there is money to be made by selling the user's information and activity.

First, it's well-established that Apple does *not* sell your personal data. That is in Apple's DNA, and is exactly why they are "behind" in the generative AI race.

Second, the toggle for turning off Apple Intelligence does indeed work. The background processes for machine learning on Macs no longer consume any CPU or RAM. I confirmed that recently when my M1 Air was choking on Apple Intelligence background processing.

☑️ Another reason to never use Samsung phones! Perplexity is nowhere near anything Apple-quality like. Apple really needs to make their own based on next gen innovation, not this current generation of transformer generative stochastic junk.

Will be nice if there is an option to choose which AI assstant to use. Without that, I think Samsung's integration with Gemini could be a better option.
