With all the cheap Samsung tablets nowadays, I do not forsee a market.

    Neither do I.

The previous Nook tablets were all sales disasters and they had nice hardware. Microsoft even invested money in the Nook and IIRC Barnes and Noble was on the verge of going bankrupt. No one is going to buy into that when you have the superior Kindle Fire HDX with the Amazon ecosystem and now Google has beefed up theirs as well.

I don't know. Perhaps teaming up with Samsung will be able to help the Nook line. Time will tell.

Barnes & Noble is 'dead man walking', IMO. They offer nothing to differentiate themselves from their competitors, primarily Amazon and to a lesser degree, Apple and Google. It's only a matter of time before they either go bankrupt or are purchased---which is why I think this could actually be precursor to Samsung actually eventually buying B&N, at least their online operations and content.

Samsung is a hardware powerhouse but the one area where they are unable to compete is with media content. Samsung customers still have to look elsewhere for their media and buying B&N would get their foot in the door. This 'partnership' may be their way of testing the waters.

That is an interesting hypothesis. I hadn't looked at it like that.

This is just a waste of resources. I don't know why Samsung do this. I can see their strategy up to a point but after a while flooding the market pointless like this becomes counter productive.

James Patterson (author of the Alex Cross books -Along Came A Spider, etc...) is in the video (older guy with glasses).

Perhaps, if you have a B & N account (I do), there is some worth?

For Barnes and Noble it is probably too late. Too bad, I really like to go to their bookstores.

Comes in a black and a white model I believe.

My local B&N store has them in stock and will be
putting some out for display later today.

Curious on how much bloat since storage space on board is limited.

If it came in a 16GB version, I might consider it, but my NOOK HD is still going strong so there's no need for me to upgrade. Actually my first generation Nook with 3G+wi-fi is still going strong.

Shame B&N never had the marketing power that Amazon had because in my opinion, they always made the better product.

I like it but the 8GB of on board storage, only 4-5GB is available to the user, is a deal breaker for me.

Same here. I have a lot of graphic novels and comics in my library and that eats up a lot of space.

I do wish they had done one more themselves. Keep their Nook design, 8" screen, 32GB on board storage, the grey/charcoal color, and just a spec bump for $199.

Unfortunately, for many, the lower resolution and storage are deal breakers. Also, os upgrades could be few and far between.

On the bright side, in a few months, with having the Play Store, this will cost less and it could serve as a decent tablet.
