The Razr doesn't stand a chance against this. Not even close. This video explains the difference between Samsung's and Motorola's approach at dealing with issues with dust. Basically, Samsung addresses the issue, while Motorola says, the bumps and lumps in your screen are gonna stay.

Cool. But I’m going to wait another generation or two on these foldables. I want one eventually, though.

If that’s indeed glass and not plastic then it looks very good. I’ll wait for the 2nd generation fold to see if they improve that design at all. Otherwise, not interested in it just to save some pocket space.

These are cool and all but I hope the industry didn’t completely swing in this direction. I really have very little interest in a foldable phone.
Luckily I'd be amazed if it did. You simply won't get budget folding phones. I'd never buy a folding phone.

I definitely want a foldable, but it's gotta be a device that opens to a tablet size. So if the next Galaxy Fold has Samsung's UTG (Ultra Thin Glass), I might get it. If it has UTG, and an Spen, I'll definitely get it. I originally planned on waiting for the third gen, but I'm ready to go fold already.

Yep the S-Pen would be a great addition to my Fold :D

But they are more than just a folding phone or can be

Now the Fold for some is not just a phone and is more than capable of replacing small tablets and even kindle's and other gadgets

It's all about choices and individual cases that is on offer to the user

This is what Samsung needs to do. It’s their responsibility to push screen modification to its limit. They manufacture them, so get these foldables out there & let others learn from their successes/mistakes.

Z Flip is another interesting idea. Hope it sells well, but I really hope the Fold 2 sells more.

I was thinking about this...I wonder what the biometric unlock will be for this phone?

If its a fingerprint sensor, it makes no sense. Having to flip the phone and then move your hand to a different position to unlock makes no sense. It would have to be a face unlock to make any sense unless they put a fingerprint sensor in the power button on the side where the thumb might naturally be when flipping the phone open.

I’m interested in this. Much to my shock and dismay. It would actually slot neatly into my usage. It’s supposed to have a side fingerprint sensor of some kind.

I’d possibly trade my Pixel 3XL for one. But I don’t really think my husband would be okay with this. We were planning on skipping phone upgrades and buying carpets and doing more work on our house.

It doesn’t help this reminds me of my Nintendo DS that I loved but gave to the little boy who lived down the street after his got stolen. I miss that thing. I have a Switch now. But there was something satisfying about the way that clamshell snapped shut.

Sigh. I want this. Bad me. Bad, bad!

After seeing this 4 month update review, I might actually make the jump to the Fold 2. I love that it's her daily driver, and she's got no issues. Sammy's hinge mechanism is the way to go, so the Z Flip should be a safe bet for durability.

I hear ya. Any gadget that closes with a satisfying snap has built in attraction power haha.

This thing is looking pretty cool. Knowing myself though, I don't think my OCD could stand even the slightest crease in the middle. Also, the Razr does have one up on the Z and that is what looks like a MUCH more versatile mini screen for the closed device. But, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't intrigued.

And that ad makes it look like candy. It wouldn't surprise me if this thing actually sells quite well.

Completely pointless product as far as I'm concerned. At least with the Fold there was a benefit to the folding, in that you could fit a small tablet in your pocket. This is just a regular smartphone that folds down the middle. While it might have a smaller footprint, is that really worth all the compromise?

The only positive to this becoming popular would be that I could say that flip phones are cool again.

You could of just asked me :)

But yes Lisa observations are identical to my own even down to what I have already posted re can replace a tablet and even a kindle for some

Unless you are like my wife and taps her screen like she is a composer you would have to be quite negligent to damage the screen with your nail

I’m actually contemplating trading my Note 10+ in for this. Though I would miss the S Pen. So I might sacrifice my Pixel 3XL instead.

I love my Note’s big screen. But it’s such a long phone I find I’m only using it at home because I can’t fit it easily with my iPhone in my phone pockets in my purse.

Now I know the screen on this Flip isn’t as good, not even close, to the one on my Note. But it’s good enough and it’s offering an entirely different experience that might be fun to try out.

Most of the specs are at least as good as what I’ve already got. They’re not an upgrade. It’s more of a lateral move into a new form factor, that is itself the novelty.

I really ended up not using my Note cameras that much anyway. Not because they are not good. But I prefer to work with the cameras on my iPhone because that phone is small and always with me.

The best cameras will be on the S20 Ultra and I know already it will be wasted on me, because I just can’t easily tote a phone that big. Unless maybe I go back to carrying just one phone. And I don’t want to do that. I’d only get a phone that big if it’s another Note.

For dual phones I’ve been carrying my 11 Pro and my Pixel 2. Note was staying home and used on WiFi. I did recently put my Sim back into my Note because I wanted to take it for use on a road trip. I haven’t bothered to take it back out and I really regret that when I want to leave the house with 2 phones but can’t.

Yeah I really use two phones. I could explain it but it’s too wordy a reason. Boring.

Edited to add GrumpyDad gave his blessings to go for it. He knows it’s kind of hopeless to keep me from purple shiny things. And it gets him off the hook thinking of a Valentines present. Lol!
