I love seeing all these tech reviewers who daily drive an iPhone and the Apple ecosystem, now making videos about how they were wrong about foldables, as they backpedal for the anticipated release of the foldable(s) from Apple. So predictable. Bottom line, the so called "professional tech reviewer" is a joke. Nothing professional about them. There's also nothing any of them can tell most of us about mobile phones, that we already wouldn't know. The only thing you can really take from them, is if they did some kind of test, like a battery life test. But that's about it. Tech reviewers on Youtube, are just as tribal as anyone else. In fact, they rely on division and tribalism for views, just like tech forums.

I never had a worry or scratch on the front screen ...I just used the phone like I would a phone normally

No issues as you should get free screen protectors (and replacements) and of course as the Fold folds most of the time its the most protected screen of all

In addition to the free screen protectors you should also get 2 years free or heavily subsidised screen replacements for accidental damage etc

Its these freebies and others that start to make the true cost of ownership over iPhone and that supposedly large sticker price delta is largely irrelevant

I got a tempered glass protector for the front screen. The same cheap ones I always use on my devices. They always work great for me.

It is possible with a lot of pressure and no screen protector, but why would you do that ?

It also possible to crack your iPhone or S22 screen in your pocket but not the Fold inner screen LOL

The S Pen with its tip is perfectly safe to use why would you be exerting any more point load than this

Trying to decide whether to rock the fold naked or with a knock off aramid case and maybe glass front protector. The free spen standing case is way too thick for an already thick phone. I also think the aramid case might make gripping it to open a bit easier.

I agree, there's only very few that I feel is authentic.

On the 2 and 3, I used the inner display without the screen protector. Never had an issue with from fingernails touching or sliding on the display. I suppose if your nails are unevenly jagged (maybe from biting them), then you might have to worry about it. But both the 2 and 3 have been surprisingly resilient to scratches or nicks. So I'm pretty sure the 4 is the same or even more resilient.

The bundled case does make opening easier as there is a chamfered recess, but yes I prefer a flip case, but did consider commando style briefly

Yeah, I prefer naked. As you mention... it's already a thick phone. And I don't care to add more bulk to it. I recently picked up a screen protector for the front and when folded it can easily be managed by one hand (imo). If the phone was wider... then yeah, I can understand using a case.

Yup. It's a landfill out there lol. Umm.. one thing I noticed majority of the reviewers are disappointed by the screen protector not covering the entire cover screen.

I went with this one and really like it. It's not all the way to the edges but that's ok as it leaves room for most cases to work without issue. Very easy to install.

It's about to be iPhone 14 day. Don't be tempted to give up the Fold4 for the 14. Lol. This 7.6-inch screen is keeping me here for a while, though. But as soon as that iPhone Foldable comes out, goodbye Android for good for me.

Tbf, I wasn’t planning on giving up on the Fold4 for the 14…lol but I do like watching Apple events. I already have a sense of what Apple is planning on releasing in terms of the design and specs. But I like to see the marketing genius of how Apple plans to sell the latest iPhone to the masses.

About the only tech device on my potential list of purchases this year is the upcoming Pixel Watch.

I think Apple foldable is few years away yet, and by then Samsung could moved on to screens that roll rather than fold, I do think foldable screens are just a stop gap until the tech improves on rollable screens, and i bet in the future they figure out a way to make glass roll, which I'm guessing will be alot easier to do than folding.

Either way the iPhone 14 won't tempt me away from Z Fold 4.

Oh also I've caved and bought the Watch 5 Pro which is coming today, well i needed to use my Samsung £100 voucher on something, & the £100 trade in on the Watch 4 using the other smartwatch option, plus the Buds Live free gift which will be sold on as i already have a pair of these should eventually bring it under £200.

I think that'll be when I finally start thinking about diving into the foldable world too. I'm not sure how that technology could be pulled off, but it would be really cool!

The technology is already there (LG Rollable Phone)… but Samsung has decided to not do it yet. My skepticism of rollables come from the mechanism that will get it to roll out… the durability factor. I recall seeing one phone company having a selfie camera that pop out from the top and it never really took off.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a technology enthusiast… love seeing innovative devices. But I doubt this rollable phone have any legs. I think Samsung continues to refine the foldable phone to the point where there’s no crease, silo to insert a SPen, flagship cameras, and durability won’t come into question.

I'm not so sure that there will ever be a screen that can be folded without a crease. It seems to go against known physics.

I disagree.. Chinese competitors (Oppo Find N and Xiaomi Mix Fold 2) have done an incredible job having a less visible crease to the point you hardly see it at all, but the only problem is those phones lack water resistance.
