The prices on these things are insane.

Why would I pay a $120 markup over an iPhone 17 for a Galaxy S26 in Canada? Just... why?

This is what I love about Samsung. They have amazing Trade-In deals for previous generations as well as huge savings with corporate benefits unlike Apple
Samsung develops and produces most of the components in their devices hence it can either price it at a small profit, break even or take a slight loss to capture market share, this is not a secret plus their after sales CS is not comparable to Apple. Samsung basically gives their customers the runaround in the hopes their give up out of frustration.

Apple trade-in value I have to agree is not great but their after sales support even after warranty expires is top notch (personal experience).

Ecosystem, though Samsung has shiny new hardware and software features there is little commitment other than to profit off data harvesting, privacy is not their main goal. Though Apple has better privacy mindset it still can be improved. With Samsung you have something today and it maybe abandoned in a few years like Google, Apple in comparison does this much less as an example 3D Touch but that is cost measure and at times poorly thought and adopted. Apple at times is its own worst enemy/critic.

Interesting. Pre-launch discounts is a weird way to convey Samsung has confidence in the value they're offering.
I don't view this any differently than when the carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile) offer free iPhone upgrades with a trade in.

Or when Apple themselves offer discounts

The end goal (generating sales) is the same.

Amazing trade-in deals and huge savings is what a company does when they really need to move product even if that means their ROI will be low as a result. Selling the most of all Android phones is still a crowing point for them, they never want that to NOT be true.

They have to, otherwise the perception is their products are cheap. Look how much value the Galaxy phones lose after purchase or their trade in value. Aweful 2nd hand market for anyone selling.

The Samsung is *more* expensive than the iPhone.

Current Samsung galaxy phone trade in value is great. It is a good news for Samsung phone users and those who love to get it. It comes however with a trade off not having best customer services and corporate stores availability for conveniences and best secure products like Apple does. For some, these are not a deal breaker due other benefits that Samsung phone offering. For others who value more for convenience, best quality products, simplicity, customer services and security (proven by becoming the trusted phone product by governments), iPhone is the best choice despite not so great trade in value. Every product has trade off that can be a deal breaker(s) for everyone. Good thing is all choices are available for all.

But there are trade offs that Samsung cannot offer like Apple does: security option that makes iPhone the most secured smartphone in the planet and trusted by governments, best products, customer services, product supports and corporate stores availability to serve any needs for Apple customers for convenience.

Apple is really dropping the ball...

I've been an Apple FanBoy for a long time, this is another year that Samsung Galaxy is flirting with me... I feel I'm with the toxic girlfriend staying with my iPhone... The privacy screen and the "AI" that actually works...

Let's see the iPhone 18Pro Max...
