Looking forward to seeing the new foldable from Samsung. Expecting Samsung to price it even higher than the Z Fold. Probably it will be priced at $1999.
Really want to see a foldable from Apple. Think it will take another two years before Apple launches a foldable. Also expecting it to be no less than $1499 for a Flip type foldable.

The possibilities are infinite. You could get an A3-size display if you fold it enough times so that it fits in your pocket.

It’s quite funny to read all the criticism about the Samsung folds. Whenever Apple comes out with a folding iPhone it will probably using a Samsung display with the same amount of visible grease. All the criticasters will hail the new iPhone fold and scream Apple solved the problem 😂

Excited about these, would love to have a phone that doubles as a pad

I get the premise of this, but the tradeoffs it will most likely come with make it less than ideal:

1. It will likely cost more than a phone + iPad combined
2. Durability is likely going to be well below that of a regular phone - imagine paying a ton and having to replace it more frequently.

In a perfect world, no such tradeoffs exist.

In this world, however... I'm skeptical for the near future of folding phones

As a tech fan and apple sheep....What i want is a Iphone that folds open into basically a Ipad Pro Mini book style. That to me is the dream device. A phone when you need it, an Ipad when you need it and thats it. This idea of a tri fold seems way to flimsy and delicate. Blend the phone with a mini tablet and your good for most things on the go!

The idea of a foldable ipad as in a 10-13 inch device seems dumb to me. At that size just make a hybrid laptop which they kinda allready have with the Ipad Pro line, just held back by dumb software decisions.

The whole idea of a foldable is getting the most out of a small form factor. A laptop is foldable as it opens because its a portable computer.

A phone that opens like a book into a notebook make sense. These wild ideas about folding macbooks and ipads make no sense to me. What good is a macbook that folds open without a keyboard, its just a foldable ipad then and even then what good is a foldable full size ipad that isnt a hybrid laptop tablet device?

I fail to understand the utility of such a thing. Same here with this tri fold device? Why not simply make a bigger book style fold? I tried the samsung galaxy fold 6....i hated it after an hour because the front screen was too damn narrow and the bigger version of it was a special edition and wasn't sold in the US! What kind of stupid mistake was that?

Same concept with these so called rollable screens? What is this the middle ages where we need a digital scroll to read some kind of royal announcement or something? I fail to see the utility of such things.

Maybe, if you had a laptop that opened and unrolled into a ultra wide screen, that might be somewhat useful for video editing and movie watching....but thats about it.

At best a tv that changes its size and shape based on the format of the context your watching! but even thats a novelty then anything. A good OLED tv with infinate blacks does the job just as well without the need for mechanical parts that could tear or break with use!

Alot of these projects are just samsung trying out new things to see if it sticks. Which is fine, thats how you experiment and innovate to some extent. I just dont see the practical need for foldable this big. A folding phone book style is the best implementation i feel. everything else is a novelty with too many compromises!

I fear even a folding phone as you describe is going to come with some pretty hefty compromises, namely price and durability, and quite possibly battery life.

Meanwhile Apple… we’ve given it a new more balanced camera hump, so you can put the iPhone on the table and it doesn’t rock now.

The most innovative thing Apples done in the mobile space is put an M chip and dual layer OLED panel in the iPad. Their iPhone has just got thinner bezels and slightly bigger screen. Oh and new colours of course.

Can’t wait to spend 2k+ on a phone that’s about as durable as a wet paper bag.

Please don’t ever make a foldable Apple

That's what SamsungCare+ is for, which you usually get for free for one year if you buy it around launch time (unlike Apple). Anyway, it's been half a year and no issue so far. Did not even need to get the inner screen protector replaced yet (which is free as well)

I still don't know why anyone would want one of these.
Chile de Castro the first amendment auditor. He can get his tri-fold in digital format with this.
As he says you should always carry your trifold with you.

If you look the frauditor up on you tube videos, then I accept no responsibility for any loss of brain cells from listening to him.

Why’s it called a Tri-fold when there’s only two folds? 🤔
While folding door-doors are called bifold even when they are, umm, trifold. (Or quad-hinge, if you prefer.)

I think you’re missing the point lol

I have no interest in a foldable phone. What I do want are phones with a better aspect ratio like we used to have. I hate the candy bar 20:9 ratio that most are now. I would love a 6.2 inch 18:9 or 6 inch 16:9 phone.

That double layer OLED isn’t an Apple innovation. Apple just implemented it.

At least the competitors offer a variety of products that still wow us, yet Apple is still suck with the candybar design in 2025.

The iphone is becoming a dinosaur it was the greatest beast when Jobs first introduced it. The wow is sadly fading away for Apple.

I've got an iPhone XR bought in 2019 - six years and a month ago.

I doubt a "foldable" would last that long. Even more so, as you can't put it in a case.
It would "fold" much earlier.

iPhones aren't disposables for me. It's a significant expenditure that I try to make use of for as long as possible.

Just like the flop that is the $4,000 appole vision pro that is now scrambling to make gaming controllers with Sony to compete with meta quest 😂😂
I assume you have evidence to back up your claim that the AVP is "a flop"?
