We're finally almost at the stage where you can fold them and use them to kill flies so we can call the newspaper 100% replaced.

there's the beginning of the end of tablets <10" ... definitely in a few years when pricing comes down
Erm….no. These things can be scratched with your fingernails…tablets aren’t going anywhere until the huge number of durability issues are gone

i've had word that due to limited supply and import fees this will cost 5k and will only have 50k units made

Interesting form factor, but boy people have a lower bar for ‘barely noticeable’ than me.

I’d like a foldable, but I can’t get past the creases at this point, or the plastic screens.

I wish they’d hurry up and invent folding glass.
You probably said the same thing about the notch that "nobody notices anymore" lolllllll

Nice to see a different form of foldable from Samsung. Expecting the second gen to be available globally. Will be many years before Apple even thinks of having a trifold, if ever. The price is very high. Will be good if in the future, the normal Z Fold reduces in price and this new trifold is priced closer to $1999.
honestly i think glasses is the next great step for tech. so i don't see apple making a foldable bigger than the current sizes. It's why i don't think tri folds will have a future overall

Yeah good one 😂 but seriously apple are that innovative they have decided that foldable’s aren’t for them

at the current compromises foldables require (plastic screens, more prone to failure, worse battery life, super high price), I'm not sure I fault them.

Sure, there will be a loud niche market for them, but a niche market didn't interest Apple when they decided to discontinue the iPhone mini

See the problem with that is this because Samsung have released foldable’s and flip phones and now trifold’s then certain apple fans will say what’s the point and we don’t need it or want it yet the minute apple brings one out then it’s the greatest thing in mobile technology.
The mini failed because they released it too late after pushing everyone to bigger screens that’s why

When one ugly crease isn't enough, let's add two ...
When it’s the same design from the iPhone 12 Pro Max to the 17 pro max then that’s great
It’s certainly pushing the boundaries and driving innovation by sticking to the same formula

Reminds me of the old SNL parody ad for a razor with FIVE blades! How long will it be before they're trying to sell us a device with four or five hinges that unfolds into something the size of an iPad Pro?
im here for it. the bigger the screen the better

So they are finally going to come out with their first z-fold phone, after years of selling "Z-fold"? I wonder what they'll call it?

I’ve said this ad nauseam, but here we go.

It’s always funny when people say, I don’t get why anyone would want a foldable phone. Cool…you don’t want one. But there’s a big difference between not for me and no one wants this.

Some people work almost entirely from their phones when they’re traveling or out in the field. Being able to expand your screen for multitasking, documents, video calls, or content creation isn’t a gimmick it’s a productivity boost. Others just prefer the versatility or the compact form factor when folded.

Technology doesn’t have to fit your use case to be valid. If you don’t see a reason to buy a foldable, totally fine. It’s just a stretch when people who don’t want foldables attempt to speak for everyone else.

It’s wild how I had to have a very similar conversation with my toddler recently about how different people have different tastes to him and how that’s ok.

I am not really interested in the tri-folds, because for me an 8" display is perfect size for my tablet needs. However, I will say that I prefer Huawei's approach over Samsung's. With Huawei's tri-fold, you can use it as a slab phone, you can also unfold it once and use it as a mini tablet, and then unfold it again for full size tablet mode. With Samsung's tri-fold design (unless my eyes are deceiving me) you either have to use it in slab mode or in full size tablet mode. I think this is a downgrade.

issue is how often are you going to be using that 10 inch display open. on the go how often is that happening? if you are going to do that at home then just pick up your tablet.

i see why samsung went this route for better protection but least with mate XT you can use that normal tablet mode as well.

I can't speak for how often I would use the full display on a tri-fold, because I haven't owned one, but I use the full/inner 8" display on my Z Fold 7 approx. 70% of the time I use the phone, be it on the go or at home, which is why I got into the foldable game years ago.
