Samsung T7 format and encryption

I just bought a Samsung T7 SSD which I will use on my MBP, and maybe iPad Pro. Do I need to format the drive differently before this APFS?

There is also encryption with Samsung software, should I use this or encrypt it using Disk Utility?

you can format the T7 using APFS encrypted via Apple‘s Disk Utility. Samsung’s encryption isn’t supported on the iPad.

Also, don't worry about the software (from Samsung) that comes with it.
You don't really need it.
Save it someplace, if you wish.
But again, erasing/formatting the drive to APFS will "wipe that stuff out"...
