Ideally the tab at $300 - $399 without contract would have potentially given the iPad a run for it's money. At $599-799 it's just that bit too pricy.

EXACTLY.

I am waiting until around march-april of next year to buy a tablet. I would love to have an Android tablet, but it MUST MUST MUST MUST be cheaper than the iPad. And I don't mean like 20 bucks cheaper, in order for ANY of these other tablets to have a chance, they must be at least $100 cheaper while being the same size and offering the same if not more features.

Or else me and most others are gonna plop down the extra bucks to go for the top of the line product (Apple), we know it will have better resale value and is guaranteed to work GREAT.

Most people, including myself, are only even considering iPad alternatives if they are cheaper. If I'm going to spend the big bucks, I want the best device (ipad or iphone).

Thanks for doing the math for us, but trolling doesn't discriminate based on how long someone has been a member of a forum. And yes, your "couch potato" comment was pretty trollish.

So your saying any vocal objections should all be supressed? Any differing opinions that doesnt follow the "norm" should be censored?

I believe a society or an organization becomes stronger and more resilient when you have multiple opinions and viewpoints. That is how democracy is such a stable form of government. Having more differing opinions should also help this forum in the long run as well.

If everyone thinked the same way, there wouldn't be any innovation.

The "couch potato" reference was to point out, albeit with a slight exageration on my part, the sendentary lifestyle that a iPad user MIGHT live due to the generally larger dimension and size of the device to the Tab. This limits its mobility, to a certain degree, that a device like the smaller Galaxy Tab might not otherwise have.

Its just to prove my point that the iPad should come with a smaller screen variation and also to give some emotional encouragement for any Apple engineers who dont like the term "couch potato" so they can give the green light for the production of the 7" iPad and make me eat my own words.

If I have done that, I've done my duties. Ahem.....Couch Potato.

I'm wondering, what do all of these vigorous young go-getters do with their Galaxy Tab when they sit down? Crack-a-lack for the tab? I dunno, maybe they are just soooo active, they never sit down...

Also, a 7 inch iPad at 4:3 still wouldn't fit in a pocket, so the 7 inch wishing members of these forums may be on to a bit of a moot point if pocketability is their aim, yes?
