Comeon, man. You've been around here long enough to realize some people don't have a sense of humor.

It's incredible! Some people hold so much anger on companies that did nothing to them! Someone should write a scientific journal on this bizarre behavior.

I guess everyone saying Samsung is acting childish has never seen a Mac vs PC commercial from Apple. Turnabout is fair play.

Why? What's the difference between these ads and the Coke vs Pepsi ads? Or political ads? Comcast vs FIOS? Verizon Wireless? I think this type of ad is quite common in a competitive market.

Political ads are even worse than the Samsung ad (by a big margin), Verizon Wireless ads never really attack the other companies, and I've never seen any Comcast vs FIOS ads or Coca-Cola vs Pepsi ads. If you want a good example besides political ads, I remember that anti-Mac ad Microsoft had that said that Macs are worse because the mouse works differently, you have to manually enable photo sharing (as opposed to using MS EasyShare or something), and other bogus stuff like that.

The ads I consider "childish" are the ones that compare two things in a seemingly unbiased way but really bend the truths, tell only parts of the truths, or make basically false claims.

I couldn't find the Microsoft ad, which was featured in a MacRumors article, but I found what I think is a piece of it or a list of things from it that someone compiled. I don't see the stuff about the mouse here, but I see some other things I remember:

The difference is that people don't IDENTIFY themselves with what cola they drink. People here identify themselves as a certain type of person because they use Apple products. It's like Red Sox vs Yankees hysteria

I own many apple products, but don't get upset when other companies make fun of them.

Bleh I hate Starbucks, although it's an interesting business model. They make fairly strong coffee so that it's addictive. They offer all kinds of flavoring to hide the taste of sub-par coffee brewed to that level of strength.

Drive thru? Blasphemy! You go inside and bring your MBP with you! :D

Apple and macs didn't become popular by taking shots at the PC, but those ads were not as cheap as Samsung's.

Apple became popular because of a new product that people wanted. Perhaps if Samsung changed direction people will actually want to buy their stuff.

The Galaxy SIII and Note II seem to be selling well. And Samsung is or was (depending upon what source you use) the number one smartphone maker in the world, so I think it's safe to say that people do buy their phones.

And this is why I loathe Samsung.

It puts Apple in a bad position. What is Apple supposed to do? Retaliate and attack Samsung with a TV ad using a white back drop and dueling iPad keyboards? That's not Apple's style. How do they defend themselves here?

These marketing ploys by Samsung MUST get under Apple's skin but they have no way to return the favor.

If I were Apple I would start making Ads similar to the Mac vs PC ads but do it in a way exposing how Samsung steals tech and ideas.

They're just corny and use cheap tactics to sell their product. I don't like it... never have.

I don't think Samsung thinks up ways to attack Apple and wonders, "is this fair?" If apple doesn't have a good comeback then it makes it absolutely genius. Samsung stealing tech? Maybe then Samsung can make one on how they supply iPhone and other Apple screens.

Umm....attack ads weren't thought up by Audi.

I know, it's terrible right. Why would people love Apple products on a site about MAC rumors. It's almost as bad as people who sign up here just to bash people on a forum site about a company's products, who like said company's products. What's next? Chevy Volt worshippers on ChevyVoltforums.com!?! What's this world coming to??

Your attempt at sarcasm is deeply flawed. Blind worship and using a product are very different things. Are you trying to imply that a person must pledge their allegiance to Apple and blindly worship them to visit this site?

That is an incorrect statement. As another reader had pointed out in the original thread, it's Apple's interpretation of their information that is erroneous, not the source information itself.
So the article was wrong? I read the original and it claimed it was the source at fault.
