Apple needs Samsung to be healthy. Apple’s consumers and stockholders need Samsung and competition to be healthy. Samsung makes good products. Without healthy competition we get innovative stagnation and even worse, complacency. We also get government intervention.
So here is to Samsung and Android and Google and Microsoft and Intel and AMD and Qualcomm and everyone having a great year this year!
as much as i dislike samsung, this is spot on.

The Galaxy line has some decent hardware specs’, that’s for sure. And they’ve got some nice advantages over the iPhone, but I just can’t convert over to android. Unless they can match Apples security and fluidity with continued software updates, there is a reason the iPhone has such a strong-hold when it’s more about the software integration to the user experience, then it is about the hardware.
I just got my iPhone 12 Pro after using Android since I gave up my 4s, and let me tell you, it's not all roses on this side of the fence.

It's been a bit painful getting to know iOS; many things seem unintuitive the way they are organized (Notifications... damn), but I'm already getting used to the OS and its comparative limitations to Android.

That said, I love that it integrates better than anything else with my Macs and iPads, which is alone worth the acclimatization pains and the loss of customizability. Everyone at home is on iOS, so that also makes the experience better for everyone (got sick of my kids' admittedly childish complaints regarding iMessage and green bubbles).

The ecosystem is the key to the iPhone for me. I could use an android phone easily and over time I would forget the muscle memory I've developed with iOS and even some things would be more efficient on android. The issue for me is that on android I can't replicate the integration you get from using multiple Apple devices.

Don't understand the complaints against Android. It is a more than solid OS.

And Samsung's implementation is pretty nice; DeX is dope, and I find Android quite a bit more intuitive than iOS in many ways. I've been more than happy in my mixed environment since I left my 4s behind, until now when I decided to give Apple a shot again.

The things Apple has an advantage on are the ecosystem and the hardware/software integration. Apple silicon chips are beasts and their hardware/software optimization are a force to be reckoned with.

But if I was a Windows guy and not a Mac guy, I'd go Sammy without hesitation.

Yep same as you know

android features are truely great but I simply can’t use it as my daily. My other devices work too well and I prefer the software

I just hope we do see spilt screen multitasking and features to take advantage of the bigger displays. If we see this in iOS 15 I see no reason to buy an android phone again to be honest

They could also potentially reveal their Smart Tags (AirTags competitor) since those got leaked just a few days ago.
While possible I doubt it. You know how Samsung is, they wait until Apple releases the product, makes sure it's successful, then they release their copycat product.

So sick of this one-sided argument. I hope you realize that Samsung NEEDS Apple to keep them in check and Samsung's customers need Apple in order keep Samsung making better products? People here always act like Apple is the only one that needs competition. SMH.

And which one of these will be made of plastic? Samsung is seriously regressing into making everything out of cheap plastic again... old habits die hard

No. After all, Samsung’s motto is: “First we mock and then we copy!”
It's more like: We let Apple do there dirty work and then copy!

which makes a lot of business sense since Apple's user accept mostly anything.

Is the “everyday Epic” reference at all related to their earlier ”Free Fortnight” nonsense?

Apple gets more competition from their older iphone models than they do from Samsung.

I concede that competition like Samsung is useful to have around so Apple can point to them as evidence that they are not a monopoly, but I do not seem them posing any sort of meaningful competition for Apple at all.

It’s all good for many reasons. The more companies that are healthy and hiring engineers and working on their own solutions the better.
Let’s remember that Apple seeks out vendors for solutions, including Samsung. The first iphone for example with the first ARM chips, and screens from Samsung. The various chips from different vendors including modem and graphic chips. Also from the software side from companies like Google with maps and search, and all the smaller developers.
And all of the innovations from Apple and their vendors in scale are able to trickle down, making innovative technologies more affordable to the masses. It’s a win for everyone whenever there is healthy competition.
