You should ask CNET News Editor Jim Kerstetter the same question.

"Windows Vista drove my family into the arms of Apple. Now we have a Macbook Pro, a Macbook Air, three iPods, an iPhone, and an Apple router...not to mention two sound systems with iPod docks. Why? Because they don't suck."

Sorry, no. Anyone can provide anecdotal evidence for either side. None would be worth more than the other.

Give us consumer satisfaction numbers. User satisfaction measured on a grand scale, not "my buddy experienced this" or "my cousin says that." Cuts through all the baloney right quick.

I don't believe those either. There are quite a few biased surveys, and I'd include the ones that do not favor Apple within that. Usually the ones related to hardware failure or repair rates on laptops place Apple as middle of the pack. They generally lack a suitable method to prove unbiased data collection, much like those on consumer satisfaction.

I don't think anyone liked Vista. They did improve quite a lot in Windows 7. The things that annoy me are more quirks. If I complained about similar things on OSX, everyone would tell me they affect a very small percentage of users.
