I kind of want to do that, however... the colors always appear to be completely off on a TV. Is that still the case today?

Just yesterday, I had a shade of light gray on my laptop and it would show as white on the TV at work...

It depends on the TV. My TCL 5 series QLED has very good color accuracy.

I'm hoping the ViewFinity S9 gets a drop soon and pushes Apple to do something with their same, more expensive, monitor. They won't drop the price but they might up their game for the money they want for it.
As long as the S9 undercuts, and especially if that margin increases, there doesn't seem to be much point getting Apple's Studio monitor.
The only thing it might have is the video cam but when you can now use your iPhone camera, what's the point?
The Apple Studio Display is such a disappointment in comparison to what it can be.

No 120hz, very poor contrast, and an awful webcam. Even the speakers are below par for Apple.

They've shown they can do all of those things very well (look at the MacBook Pros) and the thicker monitor should allow for a very good quality webcam (even the MacBook Air's webcam is much better than the Studio Display's).

I'd pay good money for an Apple monitor that addressed the above issues.

Just stopped in to say my M8 “smart” 32” from a year ago makes a lot of surface heat. You can feel it 2’ away. Sorry I bought it.

Samsung monitors are generally problematic, no matter how good they are on paper, no matter how much you pay.

I just bought the Odyssey OLED 49-inch (2023 version), brand-new, and it's impossible to plug something in the HDMI port, the port is completely crooked. I bought the same monitor 3 months ago, and it was impossible to assemble because one of the screw sockets was assembled too far away.

I'll return it completely and I'm done with Samsung. I don't want to see what other problem will surface. I don't like Apple's Pro Display (tried it at home too), but at least the QC is top-notch. I'll wait another year until something better comes out...

When you plug your computer into a 43" 4K TV that you paid less than $200 for, you realize that you'll never buy a "computer monitor" again.
provided the 40+ " part would have at least 8 k I am with you.

typing that on my iMP with 5 k resolution at reasonable 27"

Does Samsung force you to have an account with them or the monitor won't work?

Not true. I use to use a 55” 4k Tv but then I bought the 57” super ultrawide from Samsung. Never using a TV again.

I just picked up one of these monitors as an "in excellent condition" open box from Best Buy. It's connected to an M2 Macbook Air. Resolution is pretty good. The smart tv function is really useful. I don't have a dedicated tv so having access to Samsung's smart hub with live channels is a pretty cool feature. Connected via USB-C which makes everything simple and straightforward. So far, so good.

Let me know if you have the same issue with heat please. I can hold my hand up and feel it. Previous monitor was not ever warm, and my 43” LG tv has no noticeable warmth.
Obviously this is more noticeable in the summer. Guess my “fix” is a small desktop fan …
