I honestly find Samsung embarrassing. I could never buy one of their phones. Literally all they do is directly copy every Apple design. The worst is when they mock the design decision and then copy it the next year 🤦‍♂️
Well, other than including better cameras, a pen that stores conveniently inside the phone itself and doesn't need recharging, the ability to connect a monitor, keyboard, and mouse and use it as a desktop computer, USB-C charging, tethering, and data transfer long before Apple ditched that godawful Lightning port, a more intuitive interface, and better connectivity to desktop PCs... Yeah, they're totally the same.

True. Pixel's take on it looks alright. Apple and Samsung's look like trash.
Yeah just a rectangle floating at a random distance from the top of the phone is peak design for some, I guess. Not many, keep in mind. People in general don’t care for or buy the Pixel.

Yet their devices look more sleek and their software (OneUI) has already become more intuitive than iOS.
Yet it still has a poor mans AppStore. The majority of devs STILL favour their iphone apps over Android versions, and when the majority of people don't care about 'breaking into their phones BIOS' or whatever Android users like to do, then iPhone will always remain the popular choice

I'm glad they're finally acknowledging magsafe accessories with the middle one's camera island being above the magsafe accessories area. However the first and third phones still have the annoying design where the third camera down will be partially blocked / in the way of qi2 magsafe accessories like powerbanks, wallets, phone grips etc. They need to make all their phones have more of a horizontal camera island.

I personally can't wait to hear the excuse Samsung will use for going back to aluminium on the Ultra phone after Apple does it on the iPhone Pros. I'm sure they will be listening closely to what apple says during the event next week

How much is this copying and how much is optimizing placement of cameras?

Perhaps engineers from Apple, Samsung and Google are simply doing what makes technical sense.

That and/or they switched jobs and now work for the competition.

None of is peak design, that was when cameras were completely flush with the phone body. No raised camera bump, no raised ring around the camera. I generally like the pixel, though, and my wife is a die-hard Pixel user and won't even consider another Android phone (and has zero interest in iPhone).

90% of Android users do the same things iPhone users do; buy the phone, install apps from the default store, and use it. It's only a "poor mans" app store for the pompous.

How much time are you spending in the App Store anyway? I haven't downloaded anything new in a couple years.

Theres nothing pompous about apps on the Android store missing functions and features over their iOS equivalents. I dabble with Android phones every year or two (before sending them back within the 14 day trial period), and each time, many apps (that I use) are missing features with 'last update' times being long before the iOS versions. There were also apps that didn't even exist on Google Play and also apps where new features are exclusive to the iPhone for a set period of time before being released on Android later.
Don't get me wrong, I actually think from a hardware perspective, there are some nice Android devices out there, and Samsungs One UI and vanilla Android on the Pixels is quite nice. I trial Android devices to see if I'm tempted to change, but I'm always left disappointed from an App point of view.

iPhone video quality obliterates Samsung. ProRes Log 4K embarrasses Samsung 8K or 4K.

iPhone Pro USB-C transfer speeds destroy the S25 Ultra (funny since Samsung had USB-C for years but apparently didn’t care about transfer speeds).

Nobody uses the pen. Back when you had to buy a Note to get the pen sales of those devices represented a tiny fraction of all Samsung phones, proving that most people don’t care about the pen.

iPhone doesn’t have DeX, but you can connect a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Besides, DeX still means you’re stuck using inferior Android Apps.

Love how people are acting like

A) These are official, final designs

B) Samsung haven’t been using the vertical three-camera setup for years now, long before the iPhone 16

C) Apple’s (alleged) design for the iPhone Air isn’t heavily inspired by the Pixel

Hey Macrumors, the boulevard press called and wanted their article back!

Honestly the number of du*b comments from people who are either blind or have not checked how non-iPhones have looked like over the last years is mind-boggling. The last time the iPhone and the Galaxy S had a remotely similar design LTE was a novelty and it is not like Apple has a patent for the use of a rectangular shape as a design-element of a smartphone 🤣

Looks quite similar to Apple's design. Expecting Samsung to have a range of accessories with magnetic attachment. Wonder whether Samsung will also make the shift to aluminum, if Apple decides to do so.

🤦‍♂️

The s25 edge actually is quite an attractive looking device. Why they choose to copy, arguably the ugliest iphone is beyond comprehension.

Because it's not their original design. Other phones have already used a camera bump that fills the top back part of the phone. Not precisely how Apple does, but it's close enough that Apple can't copyright a "rectangular camera bump".
Looks like Samsung copied the MagSafe circle ⭕️ as well. Apple couldn’t trademark the MagSafe circle? ⭕️
