Samsung has a new sale on computer monitors this week, including a match of the all-time low price on the 27-inch ViewFinity S9 5K Smart Monitor. You can get this display for $999.99 on Samsung's website, down from $1,599.99.

This is a massive $600 discount on the Smart Monitor, which features a matte 5K display, modular 4K SlimFit camera, and support for Thunderbolt 4. The monitor is a good (and cheaper) alternative to Apple's Studio Display. The last time we tracked this deal was in early December, so if you've been waiting for a solid markdown on the Samsung display, now is definitely the time to buy.

In addition to the ViewFinity display sale, Samsung has a few other monitor discounts right now. One of the steepest is on the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 Curved Gaming Monitor, which is $500 off at $1,299.99 during this discount event. You can find more of these sales in the list below.

Be sure to visit our full Deals Roundup to shop for even more Apple-related products and accessories.

I'd be all over the $499 monitor if it had at least 120hz refresh rate.
I use my Mac for day to day productivity, but also my PC for any gaming I want to do.

This is a lie. I got it for 960 on amazon around the holidays, saw it later for 940 and i heard it got as low as 850 …
It might still be $850 for those who have Samsung EPP/EDU.

let's say "some" sense. However there should be a glossy option - have the ProDisplay XDR in glossy and I could not be happier. The matte version isn't as sharp.
Glossy monitors are ass unless you have NO lighting around your desk.. otherwise you're going to have a mirror in front of you. LAPTOPS need matte options more than monitors need glossy.

Took longer than expected, but that’s the right price point for this monitor.
And Samsung is still making money on it, just sayin…

FFS, just because you know of an historically lesser price doesn't make it a lie. What the heck.
The article starts out saying $999 is an "all-time low price". It is indeed a lie when Amazon had it for $831 on Dec 29 and there have been other lower price deals on this monitor.

More accurate would have been to say it's Samsung-direct's lowest price (which even isn't actually true as EDU buyers can get it for $850).

It's $800 now... well I logged in with AAA and at checkout it is $800.... they seem really desperate to move these...

Interesting to hear. And I have a feeling Samsung's matte isn't going to be anywhere near as good as the XDR's nano texture finish.
Indeed - made sure I had the two versions of the Pro Display XDR side-to-side (as I didn't want to mess that up).
The matte version was a little blurry/grainy - while the glossy was crystal clear. Unless you are in extreme conditions reflections are not an issue with the display. I am quite happy with my choice.

5K is more directed for Mac users as 5K is meant for their Retina display and macOS rendering. 4K on macOS requires scaling down to like 2560x1440p. macOS is very finicky on resolutions so the fonts look right.
correct - but the 2:3 scaling works ok. So you can use a cheap 27 4K monitor with a Mac without too much constraints.
