Does anybody know if the Samsung SH-S162L internal optical drive is compatible with mac? I know that LightScribe is not supported for mac, but would the drive still work aside from that feature?

The Lacie D2 external Firewire/USB burner uses Samsung SH-S162L, which is compatible with the Mac.

Lacie include additional software, including a Lightscribe program, but I haven't yet managed to get it working on my iMac.

Can you boot from the external dvd drive with a firewire connection?
What practical write speed are you geting?
Did you get lightscribe working?
