N NickSl macrumors newbie Aug 15, 2006 #2 The Lacie D2 external Firewire/USB burner uses Samsung SH-S162L, which is compatible with the Mac. Lacie include additional software, including a Lightscribe program, but I haven't yet managed to get it working on my iMac.

Can you boot from the external dvd drive with a firewire connection? What practical write speed are you geting? Did you get lightscribe working?
