SanDisk Card Reader Reboot

Everytime that I want to upload photos, I plug the card into the reader and wait. But if I want to swtich the cards, I will "eject" the SanDisk from OS X and exchange the cards. BUT the system does no recognize the new disk. Is there any way to have the system refresh its status without having to unplug and plug in the device?
