I use few SanDisks SSD and with this new OSX it seems to be terrible.

1) formatted in APFS it just takes few days before it suddenly cannot be mounted - you just see it in Disk utility and not on Mac.... You have to erase it and wait till this happens again :(((

2) if you erase some files and folders and want to empty the bin - it is impossible. Whatever you want to erase: "xy can't be erased because it it in use". Or - go through each file, unlock it etc.

It is really horrible. I wonder - what is going on ?

You can't seriously work like this - not knowing when next the disk can't be mounted ??

I’m going to be polite and describe APFS as a work in progress. I don’t use it for anything other than what I’m forced to, i.e. installing macOS.
I still format external drives as HFS+ (Journaled HFS Plus), if I only use them on macOS, or ExFat, if I want to use them on macOS, Windows and Android.
File system formats available in Disk Utility on Mac https://support.apple.com/guide/disk-utility/file-system-formats-dsku19ed921c/mac

Yes, the older disks I have in exFAT and they never had any problem ....
