Curious if you would shell out the cash for one or not.

I would like it but I think for the money, Spigen does just fine. Even those animals who run their screen raw.

Spigen EZ fit 2 pack has been working for me for 11 PM 12 PM and 14 PM. Only one chipped on the 11. The screen was flawless.
For 78 bucks I’d rather buy a nice accessory like a charging stand or something with change left over.

No way. I work in n incredibly sandy environment, always end up dumping a handful of sand out of my pockets at the end of the day. My spigen screen protectors do just fine, and in the event that they get annoyingly scratched, it’s like $7 to reapply a new one.

My personal use, Apple's ceramic shield has done a great job resisting micro scratches. While the Shell screen protector is cool; installation is a pain, it's pricey, and sapphire is more brittle so it's not good against drop protection.

To be fair, the sapphire one would resist any scratches by sand way better than a tempered glass one

I’ll agree with that. However. A 2 pack of the spigen screen protectors is $16. I’ve only ever broke one screen protector, which is the only time I ever had to change one. I upgrade my phone every year anyways. $16/yr vs $78/year.

The screen protector I just took off my old 13 pro max, only had a couple of scratches in it, none noticeable when it was on the phone.

For the right person I’m sure the sapphire screen protector is awesome. For the majority, there’s better options given the price point.

I was tempted to buy one, I actually pre-ordered Shellrus for 14PM despite the very high cost (130€ with shipping). In the end, I decided to cancel the pre-order and go semi-naked (Apple Leather case only) leveraging on rolling AppleCare subscription to cover the full 3-4 years I own an iPhone.

This way with 29€ each time I can get a new screen, and even doing it once a year, it's still less expensive than buying the sapphire screen protector.

130€ one-time (with risk of breaking) vs 30€ for a new screen when I need it.

If it would be less expensive (say 40-50€), I would still get it for the peace of mind of throwing it around without risking micro-scratches and a visit to apple store.

Just go with this anti glare screen protector, it’s fantastic. I love being able to see the screen in any lighting conditions. People ask me about it all the time and where I got it. This link is for the 14 pro max, you can search for your device.

I remember using the matte anti fingerprint films from a company before on the iPhone 4 days.. and while I did enjoy the idea, I hated how it hurt screen performance. Wasn’t too bad at first but over time with finger and face oils, the picture was just very blown out and not sharp.

But they do have a place and this was my experience. Im sure yours is much better if you continue to return to them.

I bought the Shellrus sapphire screen protector and while it has amazing coverage and feels great, it chipped and cracked the first week I had it. I didn’t drop or bang it at all that I could remember. So I contacted them for a half price replacement. That one cracked during installation while trying to get some dust off it. So for me, yes I did spend the money but will never buy again.

The Mothca anti glare is one of the easiest I’ve ever installed. Love the feel of it but the graininess of the image caused me to go back to clear. I’ve tried a ton of protectors and like FloLab the best.

I can’t see it. For one, I could replace 3 screens for that. And for two, I don’t keep my devices long enough.

Maybe if I held on to them for 4-5 years and didn’t want to renew AppleCare after it expires, then perhaps.

Me too. I tried one on my 13 pro and it cracked within two weeks. Not worth it.

I wouldn't buy it. How the display be affected from a resolution and functional use perspective. It would increase cost of the iPhone but possibly offset the cost of a tempered glass screen protector?

I would buy this, but it needs to be professionally installed. Good for maybe two years and if you use, for example, an Otterbox commuter that has a very high lip around the screen then you may get what you want. I say two years as if you replace the battery that procedure cracks the screen.

No, I'd much rather pay extra for a true sapphire *screen* on the iPhone though if it were available. Though actual sapphire--not the dubious "sapphire" on the camera lenses which scratches as easily as the screen.

Otherwise, the Spigen protectors work great and I've had good luck with them. I always a get a 2 pack and have yet to use the second application.

Sapphire screen protector? No. Sapphire is too brittle for that application. And … imagine the force that cracks the screen protector; now the super-hard sapphire shards are being driven towards the screen by whatever force the breaking protector didn’t absorb.

But, if Apple ever designs a phone with a sapphire screen? Like they just did with the Apple Watch Ultra?

Indeed: take a current phone. Add $100 - $200 to the price, but make the screen sapphire and the case something comparably durable (don’t know how well titanium would fare in that setting; I’d trust an actual ME to figure out what’s best). It’d be worth every penny — because now you’re not spending any money at all on a case nor a screen protector, plus you’re saving all the time and money of replacing either screen protector or case when they get damaged.

Hopefully you’ve all seen the videos of the Ultra getting dragged behind a car with sparks flying, smashed repeatedly on corner bricks, hit with a sledgehammer, that sort of thing. Yeah, the watches eventually die, but not after taking enough abuse that, were they on your arm, your real concern would be what kind of prosthetic hand to go with after the surgeon is done amputating.

A phone that can take similar abuse? Naked, in a form factor that is to current iPhones as the Ultra is to the S8?

If you need a screen protector, why not just buy really cheap tempered glass ones and change it when needed?

Consider the reflection. I’ve had sapphire and standard glass apple watches. Sapphire is far more reflective and would be extremely distracting while using the phone for longer periods of time.

I think usually a AR coating is applied. I know they do this on my Omega Seamster Bond, coat the under glass to avoid glare.
