For you guys taking the SAT on Saturday...

Drop what you are doing. NOW!!! Dont do any more school work or studying, one or two days worth of incomplete assignments wont hurt you for the schoo year.

Go and relax, you have studied and you are ready, go out and watch a movie, or surf the net. Get ready for the big day, plan, be at the test center early.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

1) Chill. Let your brain settle and make those connections. The more you study, the more there is for you to forget.

2) You shouldn't be memorizing anyhow. You should be learning how to solve problems when the method of solution is unknown to you.

3) Fill in the bubbles from the outside toward the center. It's faster.

4) Don't worry. You can always take it again. Unless it's November of your senior year. Then panic. :D

5) After the test (how long do they keep you trapped now), just go and do something fun for the rest of the day.

Relax. This is only a test.

To those who said chill:

I had my last tutoring session yesterday, and I am doing exactly what you said. I shut off my brain, I'm not worrying about it, and I'm going to see a friend and my great aunt today. No more studying.

Relaxing?

I was originally "mentally" relaxing too, until some idiot at school went hysterical in front of the class today and screamed, "if you don't do well tomorrow, you'll have to worry about the SAT the entire summer!" (the October SAT).

Again, there is always the smoking weed through you twenties option.

And then the requisite ten y ears of night school until you are 40.

Or take it in May or June...

Good luck, Sam. :) I'm sure you will do wonderfully.
Oh, and I'm posting because it's tomorrow. But I'm sure you'll do well. :)

Thanks a lot. I think I figured out my goals:

I will retake them until I get a 2000 composite. I'm shooting for 2100 in the following way:

Writing 750 Verbal 700 Math 650

Not going to happen....

before i took the sat, when i was waiting outside the testing room area... i met this hot chick, boost o' confidence :p

Hey! That's my goal too! (I just hope I get a "good" prompt tomorrow...)

I'm so glad I didn't have to do the essay on it. My score probably would have been the same as I got on the old version (1280). My method: don't study (other than practice tests in English class), and show up on time. I just wish I had known about the part where you had to write out the statement in cursive, which I hadn't used in several years (and still don't).

Oh. My. God.

I have to take my SAT in ONE week for the first time. April Fools Day nonetheless; does the college board have a sense of humor? No, I doubt it.

I'm sort of nervous, yet not. I can take it as many times as I want, I know I'll do at least OKAY because I do know what I'm doing, and I've had plenty of practice. In fact, I should be fine. Yet, I still want someone to ease my fears a bit, if you don't mind.

Good luck on the SAT StarbucksSam! :)

Personally, I thought that the SAT was fairly easy. Sounds like you have done enough practice to do well yourself. :)

Tell you about it tomorrow...

I'm going to bed early now... don't know if I can sleep though :p

Anyways, after watching "March of the Penguins" (mom made me watch it, don't ask me!), I actually feel really confident and pumped up about tomorrow's SAT.

Good luck to all the macrumors people taking the SAT tomorrow! Good night, and good luck.

remember to pee before you start...

Ha, that is actually good advice. :D

Oh yeah, I was wondering if I could pee like, during breaks. I hope so.
I'm leaving to take it now. My school doesn't offer it, so I'm taking it at my mom's school - the same place she took it in 1970.

I'm about to take my 12-year-old daughter to take the test. It's called the "talent identification program." She's done pretty well on the practice tests, so this should just be fun. Good luck to everyone!

If she does better than i do, I'm going to hurt someone.

i took it a number of years ago, but you get a break. However, the last thing you need during the test is thinking about urinating.

Well, I took it. It wasn't HORRIBLE... but it was long. I am confident that I did at least OKAY. I don't know if I'd assume that I did GREAT. I'm taking it again in May if I get less than 2000, and probably still taking it again anyway.

During the whopping TWO five WHOLE minute breaks, we were able to eat and/or go to the restroom.

Whew!

Well, we got 2 ten-minute breaks (school was HUUUUUGE).

Overall, I thought that it was definitely a lot easier than I had earlier imagined. I had a great prompt, and reading comprehension was easy. Probably made some careless mistakes in math, and in grammar/writing, I was down to 50-50 on some questions.

But boy, does that test take an eternity to finish! At the end, I was starving ( and I ate before the test too) and my stomach was growling, which was quite an embarassment in an otherwise quite room...

Yeesh, you guys aren't kidding about the time. The Web site says the test takes 3 hours and 45 minutes to finish, so that's when I show up to pick up my daughter. An hour later, she finally emerges....

Don't worry, starbucks sam, she's not going to threaten your 2100. We'll be happy if she breaks 1650. We're shooting for 600 math, 550 verbal, and 500 writing. Still not bad for a 7th grader....
