This is a really good hub. I looked at every possible iPad hub available, as I do video editing on Lumafusion and needed all those ports, SD, micro-SD, USB-C, USB-A, headphone, pass-through charging. You definitely want one with a cable, because direct connections are finnicky, and usually don't work with iPad cases.

The only thing this hub and most others lack is a USB-C data port in addition to USB-C power, and I did find a hub that supplied that without requiring additional power.

I see the business of USB-c hubs remains strong though I fail to understand how the price of these devices is still that high.

Another thing I do not understand is why they invariably have only one outgoing USB-c port. This one is specifically targeted to a device with a single USB-c port so after plugging the hub, we are still at one USB-c port. So it is still not possible to plug two USB-c devices, which seem a reasonable need since many USB-c accessories are available nowadays...

I had that problem. So many hubs lack the additional USB-C data port. Fortunately, there are some available.

Have you experienced any issues ejecting external drives from an iPad? I, along with my small(ish) company use SanDisk portable drives with our iPads daily. We’ve never had an issue. As in not a single issue.
Me neither, but I always check to make sure there are no lights on the drive. If there are and they stay on I shut down the iPad before I disconnect the drive.

should be thunderbolt at least.

made bad experience with these multiport USB-C hubs - can't even connect a mouse without latency to these

Still, just like so many other usb-c hub makers, they offer only one usb-c port for power delivery only, not two ports or even three, so sad, so 2018.

Popular accessory maker Satechi today announced the launch of the upgraded USB-C Mobile Pro Hub SD that's been developed for the M1 iPad Pro and M1 iPad Air models.

The hub includes a 60W USB-C port that can be used for charging an iPad or to charge USB-C devices that are connected to the iPad. It also comes with an HDMI port that supports up to a 4K 60Hz display, a USB A port, micro SD and SD card readers, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Satechi says that the SD and micro SD card slots are new to this version of the hub, as is an extension cable that allows for a more secure connection from the hub to the iPad as well as compatibility with iPad cases.

The USB-C Mobile Pro Hub SD can be purchased from the Satechi website for $70. Satechi is offering a 20 percent discount through 9/5 with the promo code SD20.

That price tag should come with tb4 support. It doesn't. NO thanks

Glad they include an extension. Why would anyone want to have to buy one? As I’m sure you‘re aware, the extension makes the hub case compatible.
What I’m saying is it should have a male connector, it should have a female connector like on the iPad and use C-to-C cable, many lengths of which are available. A male C to female C cable is against the USB-IF specifications.
