Great post @theluggage. And we're on the same page. IMHO USB-C as it exists now is a bad idea, and a clusterf*ck of an implementation.

It's also really annoying that they use the word 'Universal' when it's anything but. You can't even be sure that two identical looking cables will do the same thing, and/or won't fry your equipment.
