I have to say that I'm extremely satisfied with iOS 9 beta so far. Sure it's a bit buggy and glitchy here and there but it's WAY better than I expected. Actually I feel like that iOS 9 PB1 is smoother and less buggy than iOS 8.0 was last fall.

Enjoying all the new features and I actually prefer San Fransisco as a system font over Helvetica Neue.

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about the font but by now I think I actually prefer it. Improved legibility (at least for me) is great.

I agree about the beta being more polished than expected. Most of the stuff works for me, and I encountered nothing major so far. Battery life seems to have improved slightly, and I like the little features they added in. Such a delight to discover them as I use the phone.

Sure, it's a little glitchy and laggy sometimes, but it's still in beta and that's expected. I have faith in Apple to fix the problems before the official release; it's still about a month or two away.

I have a question, I'm currently on 8.4 the latest iOS, I've never been a beta tester nor a developer. My battery life is pretty bad with 8.4 and I've restored twice. So I enrolled in the Public Beta and then checked for software update on my phone and it shows iOS Public Beta 1....so do I start with Beta 1 and then see how that works and then I will see Public Beta 2 update when I checked for software updates and do that one and then I will see Public Beta 3 and then do that one?

Sorry if I sound stupid but I never did the beta testing and thought it would go right to Public Beta 3 since that was the latest.

Beta 3 is for developers. The regular users like us have Public Beta 1, which is same as Beta 3. They're just differently named, and missing some features (like being able to make content blockers I heard). When the new beta rolls out, you'll get it via OTA update. You don't have to do anything.

Ok thanks, I've now got the public beta 1 installed on my iPhone 5.

In its eagerness to implement Split View and Slide Over, Apple seems to have forgotten that swiping from the right in Safari is supposed to allow us to go forward in our web history. So now we can't go forward with a swipe. Well done Apple :D

Oh wow I didn't think I would be able to use the new NEWS app but it works. This is cool, why no Macrumors news mag as I did see Cult of Mac.
I'm liking the new keyboard with lower case letters.

The only problem with the news app is some of the articles have videos embedded which is cool but the videos won't work in landscape mode the video will expand but it stays in portrait mode. Anyone know how to fix?

Im fairly satisfied with iOS 9 PB 1 so far. Aside from the expected things that come with a beta it's been rock solid for me. (Only things I've seen are a few graphical bugs and keyboard clicking audio sometimes cuts out until the keyboard is used again.)

Could just be a missing feature (even though it's a ridiculously basic one) because it's an early build of the app (first time it's been available in the beta.)

Report and see what happens in later builds is probably all that can be done for now. :(

It's a different gesture now.(because devices with slide over/split now use the old way.) Swipe in a bit from the right and then swipe back to the right edge.

Do I report it through the feedback app that I see on the home screen

You sure do. And anything else you may find.

It works, but it feels unnatural

True, it is a bit strange. Perhaps they can make it old way for devices that can't do slide over/split. (In the same way the iOS usually turns off other features based on what device it is.)

Thanks just reported it. I love the new news app but the videos won't work in landscape mode. Happens in all the categories cnn and fox news if they included a video it plays fine but won't rotate to landscape. And yes I don't have the portrait on lock in settings lol

So when my phone got to 20% battery it prompted me if I wanted to turn on low power battery feature so I said yes. I have to admit so far it's working great because I'm at 9% now and have been doing a lot since then like watching a few videos surfing and playing music on the music app and playing with the news app so I'm impressed with this low power feature.

Yep, it's very nice. It also prompts you at 10% of you missed it at 20 or decided at 20 you didn't want it on.

I must have missed the 10% notice. It would be nice if they made a quick access toggle for the low power like in the slide up console or maybe tap on the battery icon any time instead of going to settings then battery then the toggle. Because I noticed you can use this feature even when you at say 45%

Yep, works at any percentage.

Weird. On my iPhone 6 it runs really nicely. It runs really smooth and no major hit on battery life. Aside from few graphical glitches I haven't really noticed anything wrong with it. All promised features work well.

So 2nd full day with public beta 9 and this is the best my iPhone 5 has worked in years. This morning when I took it off the charger I decided to turn on the low power battery feature just to see if it really works and it's been since I woke up my current stats are 4 hrs 29 mins standby and 54 mins usage and my battery is showing 94%. Web surfing receiving texts replying opening apps. When I was on 8.4 my battery would have been down to 78 or 80% so I can see a huge benefit to this low power battery feature. I am really liking this public beta. Everything is working great for me.

I just noticed feature on the public beta not sure if this was available on 8.4 if you go into battery under your usage you see a % of how much your battery is being used but if you click on the timer icon to the far right it changes your % to exact times in hours when you used each function. This is really great it tells you exactly how many hours you have used safari or how many mins or hrs you used music player etc..

I agree with OP; the only consistent glitches I ran into were with TouchID being at PITA on occasion and dictation failing a few a few times. Initially Siri wasn't working either when I installed it. In any case I not complaining, it was nice to experience - I'm back to 8.4 now, but I'll give the next PB a go as well.

Disappointed there's no text select like the iPad on the iPhone 5S. I'll have to make do with the jailbreak tweak that facilitates that very thing on 8.4. I don't know why Apple would make this demarcation - it works very well. The cut/copy buttons I can understand due resolution constraints.

I rolled back both my iPhone5s and iPad Air to iOS8.4
Its not that I was not happy with iOS9, its jus that these are used daily and the lags and glitches were cheesing me off.
I'll probably upgrade again when the GM is released.
