When I bought my iBook, I couldn't just enter my WEP code with the $ in front of it. I had to call apple and have them help me set it up so that it would work. This involved creating a location and changing some other weird settings.

Anyway, is it possible to save all those settings as one file in case I need to re-install the OS at some point or get a new harddrive or something similar?

Not at the beach...
Im assuming you want to save the setting in "System Preferences>Network" not the setting on your router.
I took screen shots of my network settings using "Grab" ("Macintosh HD:Applications:Utilities:Grab.app") Then, save them on a CD, flash drive, .mac or anything! :)
