New to mac... quick question.

When going to save a file I am having the annoyance of having
no control over the order of displayed folders and files (like you
can in finder) other than flipping them into reverse alphabetical
order. The norm of coarse being to have your folders appear first
before any other files. A complete pain in the ass when you have
lots of folders and files.. constantly having to scroll down to find
the folder manually.

To make matters worse even typing the first letter of that the
folder you want to quick jump to it doesnt work. With all other
files greyed out you have to click on another folder then press
the desired letter.

This problem has occured both in garage band and photoshop
so Im assuming its going to be the same for other programs.

Ive done a bunch of searching the help section to try and find
options for the save as window but with no luck.

Help appreciated, cheers A...

save as Finder windows are a bit limited in arrangement of folders and files. theres no way to make folders appear first but there is a hack here which involes editing the Finder

also you have to select the column if you want to be able to jump to a folder by pressing the first letter of its name.

just a hint, you can change the icon size and label position by clicking and holding on the icon view button.
