I want to save an email thread to iCloud Drive. Do I save it to a PDF first? If so how, please?

Drag the thread from Mail to a Finder window with iCloud Drive open.

I did try that but it keeps going back it drags but it won't stay

When you drag it to Drive does the window get highlighted with a green +?
