Hey all,

Just wondering if they have an app out there for the Apple watch that can drop a pin of my current location on Maps so that I can remember where I parked my car.

Thanks!

There are several available if you search the app store.

Some are free, but a lot don't work very well. The gps sometimes has poor position information when you save, making it hard to find the location later when you are looking for the car.

Having said all that, I've tried to work around some of the gps limitations. You can check out my app: http://watchaware.com/watch-apps/689823923

My new car has an app that allows you to drop a pin on a map to mark your location. You can also set a timer to keep tabs on how much time is left on your parking meter!

You can do it for free using the built-in maps app. Open the app on your Watch and make sure it's centered on your position.

Tapping once (not holding or Force Touching) on your current location (blue circle) will drop a pin to mark where you left your car.

That's cool :) Does it give you any help in getting back there?

Not only watch specific but I backed a kickstarter project a few years ago for an app/bluetooth dongle called Find my Car Smarter.

There's a tiny USB bluetooth beacon that you plug into your car, paired to your phone so that when you turn off the car and the bluetooth signal disconnects it records your parking position. There's an accompanying watch app that you can open up and it pulls the last position of where you parked. Click the pin and you're offered walking directions via maps.

I'd highly recommend it because it solves the problem of having to remember to mark your cars location after you park before walking away (and then only later realizing you never marked the location you parked)... with this it just happens.

I actually use this - I have one beacon in my car and one I keep in my 12v car charger I use for iPhone navigation in rental cars (it has 2 USB slots).

Also has a Watch app.

Highly recommended.

You guys should checkout "Workflow". You can easily create your own workflow like this and can run it from a glance with just two tabs.

You can also just use the regular maps app and hold you finger on screen to create a pin.

Ha! That's funny. I just bought Workflow yesterday and that was one of my first projects. Works great.

Here is my Workflow - it gets the long/lat for your current location then creates an Apple Maps link. I chose to save this location as a new Calendar entry because links in Reminders aren't "clickable" and there is no default Reminders app on the Watch.

This way you can just view the newly created appointment in any Calendar app and click on the link to open the map.

So after it has run you will see a new appointment created at the current timeslot called "Saved Location" and the location (and notes) have a clickable map URL to view the location.

Also if you have this as the only Workflow on your watch you can tap the Glance to automatically save your location (2 clicks from watch face).
