I have torrents going all the time. If the computer goes to sleep, the internet disconnects, so they stop. Display sleep wouldn't disconnect though. Is it OK to have computer sleep on "never" but keep display on "15 minutes"? I don't usually even leave the computer on overnight.

I set all my computers, Mac and PC, to never go to sleep but to turn the display off after 5 minutes. I always thought screen savers were a waste, so I've done that forever. Never had a problem. In theory it should extend the life of the monitor. Having the computer running for extended periods of time (instead of sleeping) may shorten the life, but again I've never heard of a problem, especially if it's turned off every night.

I bought my iMac on June 7/08. It has never been turned off. Bought my UMBP on April 13/09. It also has never been turned off.
