Saving embedded photos

How can I save an embedded photo in an email? When I right click I just get a copy image option, nothing else. I tried to drag and drop onto my desktop but it just becomes a blank rich text file. Any ideas?

Try this (may work, or may not work)

Copy the image you want to save.

Open Preview.

From the File menu, choose "new from clipboard"
(You can also just type "command-N")

Yes this works but surely there has to be an easier more efficient way. That is a lot of work to save one picture. It's one thing if I only had two or three but there are at least one dozen.
