Saving Microsoft Word 2009 Preferences?

Is there a way to save the preferences (i.e. font, paragraph layout)? It is tedious to do these things every time I create a new document.

First... the latest versions of office... Mac = 2008 and Windows = 2007... there's no 2009...

I'll assume you mean Word 2008 for Mac since this is MacRumors...

Click on toolbox, in the formatting palette expand "styles" --> click "new style", create one and save it...

You can also make changes to the normal.dotx template which is the template from which your "New Document" is taken, but that is not always advisable. If you do, make sure you take a copy of the original normal.dotx.
