whats the best way to save youtube files, i downloaded videobox but the trial goes up in 5 days and im a fan of freeware.. also i tried the safari trick and when i double click the swf file it doesnt seem to download for me.. any suggestions.
 
If you use Safari go to the activity window. Copy and then paste this into your URL bar since, for whatever reason, double clicking doesn't work for you.

I always almost hesitate to tell people because I don't want their costs to add up and suddenly make it, you know, not free. But there you have it, a couple dead easy solutions.

P.S. a little search could have given you this answer quicker than I could have typed this, by the way.
 
Vixy is a great little tool.

You can convert it into a variety of formats.
But the only bad thing is it sometimes is down and will not convert your video.
