Was waiting in line for merchandise Friday afternoon and an older guy behind me had a brand new watch right on his wrist. Was absolutely gorgeous in person (looked like the stainless steel model) and really caught my eye in a way I was not expecting.

The marketing photos do not do the watch justice. Went from having almost no interest in the thing to wanting one just by how clean it looked.

Dammit Apple

Coachella is a pretty high profile festival and attracts a lot of celebrities and influencers. My guesses are he is either an Apple exec or some type of influencer. Supposedly Drake was wearing one around the festival as well.

Coachella is a culture/fashion machine these days so I wouldn't put it past Apple to plant them there to go along with the style of marketing they have been doing for the watch.

Probably not anymore.. Madonna probably pinched it off his wrist while planting a big sloppy wet slobberknocker on him on stage that he got "horrified" by. :p

There are a good handful of celebrities and Apple employees out there with Apple Watches. I've read enough accounts to know this. One of the Apple Watch reviews I read talked about the reviewer making a purchase with the watch in the Palo Alto Whole Foods, and the cashier saying that she's processed many transactions like this.

I love how celebrities get all this free swag when they are literally the last people in the world that need it.

Guess Apple needs to keep that marketing machine going.

It only costs Apple $2,000 at the very max.

'Lots' of people have them at this point:

- Celebrities
- Apple employees
- Tech Reviewers

All of which would be likely candidates to attend Coachella

This.

Also, doesn't Apple deploy iBeacons to events like this? I know they did at SXSW. It would only seem apropos, plus give them the ability to test functionality between iBeacon and Apple Watch.

Oh wow ! You driving ?

Yup... all 32 hours of it hahah. We've got 3 drivers rotating around though so it shouldn't be too bad.

We've got a nice, big corner suite booked at the Cosmopolitan for a week though, so we'll have a few days on either side of the festival to recover from driving and prepare for the trip back!

Maybe one of the guys from AC/DC? An ordinary person definitely wouldn't have gotten one.

Don't have to be a rock star or celeb to own an apple watch at this point. Could have easily been an apple exec, or maybe a lowly apple test pilot still conducting last minute data. In fact there are a lot of watches in the wild for that purpose.
