Hey there, we are destination wedding photographers based in Sydney. Just signed up to this forum and having a look around to see what great info is posted. Cheers

I've been to about 500 weddings either as an assistant or as the main photographer.

I don't really like doing it anymore. Although I will go out for the right price. :)

I think it is good that they are working on it. But a pity there is no timeline. I'll probably end up getting some pocketWizards sometime soon

I have the pocketwizard mini TT1 and 2 flex TT5s for the canon 580ex. They work like a dream on ETTL mode. You can adjust the intensity of the flash right on the camera with the +/- setting and sync to any shutter speed.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more. I have three FlexTT5 and two MiniTT1s triggering a 580EX, a 580EXII, and a 550EX from either a 1DmkII or a 5D. I have absolutely LOVED the Pocketwizard system, in either ETTL or manual mode. The new AC3 Zone Controller allows me to control flash power (again, ETTL or manual) without leaving the camera position, and with the AC5 "sock", radio interference is no longer an issue (with the 580EX...the 550EX never had any issue to begin with, so that's the light I usually position furthest away from the camera).

And on the few times I need to shoot with studio strobes, HyperSync allows me to increase my X-sync speed so that I can easily overpower the ambient light.

The Flex/Mini system isn't cheap, but it's SO flexible and (finally) works as advertised.

100% highly recommended.

See, no matter what my colleague and I did, we couldn't get ETTL working, or high-speed sync. Simply wouldn't happen - and I know of others with the same issues. Another shooter I know has somehow managed to get ETTL operating, but doesn't know how.

It also shouldn't take you hours of configuring on a computer to do either! They're the most expensive solution on the market, and should just work, not be a pain in the ass.

Don't know what to tell ya. Mine have worked perfectly since day one, ETTL or manual. Only issue was the range problem, which was fixed by the AC5 and doesn't exist with the 550EX or the 430EXII.
