Hi,

I just got the new macbook pro 16" and have it connected to my dell u2717d display. As I prefer to have lots of space, my macbooks resolution is set to scaled for "more space"

I would like the dell display to be set to the same resolution, so that windows dragged from my macbook screen to the dell screen will appear the same size. In the preferences, I the highest resolution I can choose from for the dell display is 2360 x 1440.

I am assuming that this is simply the highest possible resolution for the display, but is there perhaps any other way to make sure that the windows/ objects appear the same size on my external display as on my macbook screen?
Here is an example of how the size of objects currently changes, as I drag a window from one display to the other (dell display above, macbook below):

Thank you in advance to any advice!

Greetings :)

The U2717d looks to be a 1440p display, with a native resolution of 2560x1440.

My advice is:
Run it at the native resolution and accept the "size differences".

Why?
Because if you try to "scale the image", you're going to make the MPB's GPU do a lot more work. More work = more heat, perhaps some "lagging".

Since your Dell monitor's highest resolution is 2560x1440, the only real option to make things appear more equal in size would be to make everything on your MBP's screen appear larger (like at the "default" scaling setting).
