Btw, the chance of this site being legit is VERY LOW. I already tipped off the mods about brand new users suddenly promoting the site in the last week in their first and only posts on MR.

Don't risk it, it's not worth it.

No need to get rude. I was looking for opinions, not advertising. I wanted people to weigh in on whether or not they thought it was even possible for the eBay link I posted to be legitimate. Honestly I just wanted everyone to know that I had other buying options in the case that this was total bunk. At this point I've decided not to get greedy and just to go with my other options depending on what happens at WWDC. I felt as weird about the eBay listing as anyone would.
That being said, I think this post I've quoted above was uncalled for. Yes, the beginning of this thread was my first post. But if you guys don't want people to join your conversation then cool. Isolate yourselves. Thanks to everyone who posted in an effort to help but saying that things have been forwarded to moderators immediately upon entry into the conversation is just nonsense. It's my first post, sure. I'm drunk now and going to see if the guy reposts his 2.66. Further, I've asked questions about the machine that he'd have to either check the box or apple.com to answer in an effort to test his English. I'll see if this is legit on my own I guess. But dammit this is America. Fist a jar of Peanut butter and call me Skip-Boot. Seriously, thanks Macrumors. It's been fun but I'm probably done.

Hey man if your willing to go with the eBay dude, go for it. You can tell from my Sig, I'm an eBayer to the maximus and from checking that listing, I would personally stay far away from it. My last post was just a reference for you for online resellers authorized from Apple to compare with the one you found on that site.... All in all man just wish ya luck in whichever one of those routes you take. oh I got the 15" 2.4 250gb Pro for $1399 BIN eBay. It was only 1 month old and according to the seller, actually purchased and returned less than 1 month. I got it and wow you could NEVER tell it was even used.

Ummm dude...that post wasn't referring to you, it was referring to 2 other users that clearly were advertising for the website you inquired about and created fake accounts to do so. I was saying the site is fishy if they open accounts on MR to promote their site. Only read posts when you're sober. :D

Learn something every day. That's just sound advice. Sorry. I got it in my craw that you were talking about me since it was my first post. :D

Ive heard of a ton of ebay scams that come out of the UK.

Likewise, I've personally seen a ton of ebay scams that come out of the USA. Nowhere is immune.

However, looking at the ebay auction, $1700 buy-it-now price yet 710+ page views and no bites ... I think that speaks for itself.

Skipped it

Thanks for the help guys. I ended up passing and letting it expire. Even if PayPal would've backed me up if it was bogus I didn't like the thought of putting up 1700 bucks on something I know is messed up. Plus, I just want my computer. Going to wait through WWDC like I planned.

just to share an experience with ebay. I bought an in dash DVD/GPS. Guy shipped me an empty box and paypal said he shipped you something not their problem and voided my protection and I was out $1200. Contacted visa and they said you received a box but it was empty? (keep in mind im talking the packing box not the product box) and they said well it was shipped nothign we can do. that protection is BS on all counts no one is protected if the scammer knows what they are doing.

Well, I personally just got my new uMBP from SpringBoard, and I was really excited to do so, because I was a little bit leary of it being legit, but I did my research and everything I found online indicated that they were legit. Needless to say, I ordered it on Wednesday of last week and got free Fed-Ex ground shipping and it arrived on Monday! Awesome experience, couldn't be happier, I even checked for damage to the box, or if it'd been opened or dad pixels, bent keys, nothing! Wait for WWDC or buy from them, that's what I'd do!

Good Luck!

Did you opt for shipping insurance? It could have been possible that someone stole the product while in transit...

That means you were our sacrificial pig for that website (pun intended indeed) :D

Just use your credit card and pay through paypal. If you have ANY problem your credit card will refund you the money.

I guess being new is a crime

Lol. This is funny. I finally sign up for MR, and share something that I thought was pretty cool that I got in an email, from having been there before, and I am being called an advertiser.

As an aside, I am a Former Apple Retail Store Manager, and have since moved on in my career.

As an aside, there are many great an qualified specialists who do business online, besides those that were listed above.

I, personally, just purchased and got the Black MacBook bundle that springboardstore.com is selling right now. They even delivered it same day, which is pretty impressive.

I apologize if I don't have all the time in the world to post hundreds and hundreds of links and information. It doesn't make what I do have time to share, any less valuable.

That is what I love about this site. People who have no experience with anything suddenly becoming experts on everything.

Nice to see an ex "Apple insider" who still sticks to Macs. Hopefully you'll hang around long enough around here and help out with so many different issues!:apple:

Sure thing

Of course. If anyone has any questions about Apple Retail, etc. I'd be more than happy to weigh in with an extremely unbiased, fact based answer.

Funny enough, before I started working at Apple, I had never owned a Mac. Now, I'm a full blown geek. I honestly feel bad for people who still use PC's and are just clinging to that last "I'm not going to switch just because everyone else is mentality." ....keep playing free-cell with your bad self.
