Last year I had someone try to scam me and had my iPhone listed on Facebook same day they got it from me and tried to say it wasn’t working? Anyway it’s the time of year people sell iPhones to get new IPhone 16. I usually now take item to Cex but always get a low price. I always write down the imei number too. I avoid eBay too full of scams. Anyway my question is why iPhones? Does it happen with Google pixels and Android tablets too? Why does it just seem to be phones? I always get the same messages saying what’s your best price and can you negotiate.

It happens with most phones, but since the iPhone is quite popular and this is an Apple centric web site, you’re going to hear more about being scammed for iPhone more than an Android device (same goes for Reddit too).

When it comes to scamming, there is little different between Facebook and ebay.
FBM has in-person exchanges, but that's about where the [potential] benefits end. I've had pleasant experiences listing things locally. If you want the reach, you gotta take the spam that comes with it unfortunately.

I think it's because iPhones hold resell value far better than Pixel or Galaxy devices. I'm sure the latter receive their fair share of scams, but why bother trying to milk $500 when you can get $800 instead, for instance.
