Scanning documents

This is probably not specific to Macs but I'm struggling. I'm trying to scan a document and open it on my i mac. It scans fine however when it opens it is just nonsense... lots of 001110000 etc. I'm I doing something basic wrong?? Thanks

Is the scanner attached to the Mac or to another machine? What format are you scanning to and what brand of scanner do you have? 🙂

sounds like you need some OCR software (Optical Character Recognition) 🙂

Got it sorted. Opens as it should with preview. Thanks anyway.
